The Airco DH.9, also known after 1920 as the de Havilland DH.9, was a British single-engined biplane bomber that was developed and deployed during the First World War.
The DH.9 was a development of Airco's earlier successful DH.4, with which it shared many components. These were mated to an all-new fuselage and the 230 hp BHP engine, which promised increased performance. Anticipating its usefulness, the type was ordered in very large numbers for Britain's Royal Flying Corps. Some 3,024 were produced. After entering service in November, 1917, the DH.9's performance was found to be unsatisfactory. The BHP engine was unreliable and failed to provide the expected power, which gave the DH.9 poorer performance than the aircraft it had been meant to replace. The DH.9's performance in action over the Western Front was typically deemed to have been a disaster. Heavy losses of the type were quickly incurred, attributed to both its poor performance and to engine failures, despite the prior derating of its engine to reduce the failure rate. Despite its general lack of performance, due to its large numbers, the DH.9 was introduced to nearly every theatre of the conflict prior to the signing of the Armistice of 11 November 1918 which ended the conflict. Reportedly, the DH.9 was more successful in combat against the Turkish forces in the Middle East, where they faced less aerial opposition.
The original Airco D.H.4 model and air files are by Gary Aumaugher.
With Gary's kind permission it is the base for the further development by Captain Kurt. The nose, wings, fuselage, tail, landing gear, machine guns, cockpit, propeller, equipment and rigging were all different from the DH 4 version but the original Airco DH 4 was a useful basis to develop from just as it was in reality. Textures are by Captain Kurt. The aircraft.cfg, .dp, and .air files modified for the new aircraft, plus a new 2d panel are also by Captain Kurt.
The crew figures were developed from Wolfi's free source Japanese pilot figure. Spinning prop texture is by Kelticheart.

This is a repaint of the Flight Replicas Spitfire Mk.V for MSFS as Mk Vc Tropical BR390/ZX-N of No 145 (Polish) Squadron in 1942 during the North African campaign. Most sources identify BR390 as a Mk.Vc while some photos make it look more like a Mk.Vb. The DH propellor is clear enough so I'm choosing to use the FR Mk.Vc. The aircraft was struck off charge on 30/9/42 apparently after a flying accident.

This file is simply a texture update for my original N726A repaint.
Download T-28B_N726A.ZIP BEFORE applying this update!
Original Description: This North American T-28B (cn 200-310) was constructed with the BuNo 138239 (I could not find the exact date or relative time it was built). It was then bought by James I. Arbogast in Hamilton, OH with the c/r N726A in October 19th of 1999. In September on the 27th in 2004, it was then bought by Verlin D. McIntosh in Farmersville, OH, still carrying the c/r N726A. The latest owner is Jeff Chorman, who bought it on May 14th, 2018. The plane has remained under his care to this present day as it flies frequently. It stays in Greenwood, DE with the rest of his warbirds. This is a repaint for Ant's Airplanes' amazing T-28B/C Trojan. Tested in FSX. Installation instructions are included.
This package contains alternative textures for the P-51D Mustang by Wozza. I have understood that there are different version of this model, which might make it necessary to make some minor changes to the included entry for the aircraft configuration file.
The repaint shows the P-51D, 44-15569, flown by Capt Roscoe C. Brown CO of 100th FS 332nd FG 15th AF Ramitelli, Italy 1945.
Captain Brown shot down a German Me 262 jet fighter, becoming the first 15th Air Force pilot to shoot down a jet. On March 31, he downed a Fw 190 fighter. For which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was appointed as CO of 100th squadron in June 1945.
Brown's Mustang carried a number 7. On the port side it carried the text Bunnie, while on the starboard side the text Miss Kentucky state was painted.
After the war Brown resumed his education and became a professor at the New York university. Brown died on July 2, 2016, at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y. at the age of 94.
I want to thank Warwick "Wozza" Carter and friends for creating this lovely model. The paintkit by late Gary J. Smith served as base for this repaint. And of course Martin Wright for his simple but indispensable graphic tools, as without his dtx1 bitmap manipulator these textures simply wouldn't be there.
This package has been modified by the SOH librarian emeritus on 16 April, 2024 to include the following update by Gavin:
This from Gavin; Here is my final update to the Salamander.
The zip file contains an updated external model that corrects the rudder and nose gear animations. I have also included a fresnel ramp map and a specular texture for the canopy, please feel free to adjust them to your hearts content.
.dds files go into the texture folder and the mdl overwrites the current file in the model folder.
Thanks Gavin!
Original text:
The Heinkel He 162 Volksjäger (German, "People's Fighter") was a German single-engine, jet-powered fighter aircraft fielded by the Luftwaffe late in World War II. Developed under the Emergency Fighter Program, it was designed and built quickly and made primarily of wood as metals were in very short supply and prioritized for other aircraft.
This package contains alternative textures for the P-51D Mustang by Wozza. I have understood that there are different version of this model, which might make it necesarry to make some minor changes to the included entry for the aircraft configuration file.
The repaint shows the P-51D named Lollipoop II, which flew with 100stFS 332FG 15th AF, Ramitelli Italy, late 1944-1945. This Mustang was flown by the Tuskegee Airmen Lt Spurgeon Ellington and 1st Lt Robbert W. Williams, and has also been named "Duchess Arlene" somewhere in its life.
Aircraft used by the 332nd came from other squadrons as they were replaced by later Mustang Models. As a result, the planes arrived with the markings from previous squadrons. They were put into service immediately and markings were changed between mission. This could account for the varying descriptions of these planes.
