Thank you for chosing another FDG plane and for supporting www.donationware.net!
The Curtiss P-36 was the first of the new generation of monoplane fighters to enter service with the USAAC. It was a contemporary of the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane, and the Messerschmitt Bf 109, all of which were introduced within a few months of each other in the mid 1930s. Even though the P-36 owed very little to previous Curtiss biplane pursuits, the name *Hawk* was still generally applied to the aircraft.
The P-36 pursuit had its origin in the Model 75 project which was originally developed as the Curtiss entry in the US Army pursuit aircraft competition scheduled for May 1935. Curtiss lost the initial contest but was the real winner in the end, with 227 examples sold to the USAAC, 753 exported, and at least 25 built under license in other countries.

FDG2_B-17_Pack_for_CFS2.zip
The B-17 was developed in response to the US Army Air Corps’ request for a large multi-engine bomber primarily for coastal defense. The prototype Model 299 first flew on July 28, 1935 and was financed solely by the Boeing company.
The Model 299 was the first Boeing military aircraft to employ a closed-cockpit. It was initially armed with Browning .30-cal machine guns in blister mounts. Twenty B-17Cs, armed with 7 .50-cal Brownings, were delivered to the RAF who found the defensive armament lacking. The E variant was armed with 9 machine guns and was capable of carrying a 4,000lb bomb load. It was the first mass-produced version and introduced the large, distinctive tail that is identifiable by warbird lovers the world over. As the variants progressed, more armor and armament was added. The G model carried 13 .50-cal Browning machine guns, having added a chin turret to add better protection from frontal attacks.
The B-17 airframe was very resilient and could absorb a tremendous amount of damage. Many B-17 crews owe their lives to the 17’s ability to stay in the air and make it back to base even with huge chunks of fuselage and control surfaces missing.
Nearly 7,000 B-17 airframes were built by Boeing plants, but Douglas and Lockheed’s Vega subsidiary also built another 5,700 to bring the total to nearly 13,000 units by the end of it’s production run. After WWII, many B-17s wound up in the scrap heap, but some soldiered on filling roles such as transports, fire bombers, and target drones. A few survive today in the hands of various museums around the world.

FDG2_P-51c_Malcolm_Hood_for_CFS2.zip
Thank you for chosing another FDG plane and for supporting www.donationware.net!
The P-51 was designed as the NA-73 in 1940 at Britain's request. The design showed promise and AAF purchases of Allison-powered Mustangs began in 1941 primarily for photo recon and ground support use due to its limited high-altitude performance. In 1942, tests of P-51s using the British Rolls-Royce "Merlin" engine revealed much improved speed and service ceiling, and in Dec. 1943, Merlin-powered P-51Bs first entered combat over Europe. Providing high-altitude escort to B-17s and B-24s, they scored heavily over German interceptors and by war's end P-51s had destroyed 4,950 enemy aircraft in the air, more than any other fighter in Europe.
Mustangs served in nearly every combat zone, including the Pacific where they escorted B-29s to Japan from Iwo Jima. Between 1941-5, the AAF ordered 14,855 Mustangs (including A-36A dive bomber and F-6 photo recon versions), of which 7,956 were P-51Ds. During the Korean War, P-51Ds were used primarily for close support of ground forces until withdrawn from combat in 1953.

Fairey_Albacore_by_Baldy_for_CFS2.zip
Fairey Albacore Mk I
The Fairey Albacore was the first aircraft I modeled in FSDS2 a couple of years ago. I had to do two issues before I managed the wing folds.
This, the third attempt, is a completely new model. The moving parts now include pilot's cockpit, rear gunner position ( spoiler key ), wing folds and tail hook.
I have redone the panel (resprayed by Uncle Tgt) which now includes a vc and the model is multi-res.
The texture (outstanding) is by Uncle Tgt of SOH.
Uncle Tgt's contribution has been more than the texture - his suggestions and constructive criticisms have helped me make a better model than I would have done alone.
The propeller texture is by Kelticheart of SOH.
This aircraft is only obtainable through DONATIONWARE at the Sim-Outhouse.
The weapons are available from the Groundcrew Swordfish campaign which still available now at www.regshanger.com

Nakajima Ki-43-IIb:
Engine: Single Nakajima Ha-115 fourteen cylinder air-cooled radial rated at 1150HP for takeoff and 980HP at 18,375 feet. 3-blade prop.
Performance: Maximum speed 329 mph at 13,125 feet. Climb to 16,405 feet in 5 minutes 49 seconds. Service ceiling 36,750 feet. Normal range 1095 miles. Maximum range 1990 miles.
Armament: Two 12.7mm machine guns in the engine cowling. Two 30Kg or 250Kg bombs (One per wing).
Two 200L drop tanks could be carried.
Development of the Ki-43-II:
Five Ki-43-I airframes were modified in February of 1942 with an engine upgrade from the 980HP Ha-25 to the 1150-hp Type 1 engine. This engine had a two-speed supercharger and drove a three-bladed constant-speed metal propeller as opposed to the 2-blade prop used on the Ki-43-I. The supercharger air intake was also moved from underneath the cowling to its upper lip, with the carburetor intake remaining underneath the cowling. The wingspan was decreased by two feet and the wing area by 6.46 square feet to improve speed at low and medium altitudes. The windshield and cockpit canopy were raised slightly and a new reflector gunsight was fitted. The wing attachment points were also strengthened to carry 250kg bombs.
In response to complaints from the field that the Hayabusa was too vulnerable to superficial combat damage, some rudimentary armor protection was provided for the pilot and self-sealing tanks were installed in the wings.
The improved Hayabusa model entered production as the Army Type 1 Fighter Model 2A (Ki-43-IIa). As the Model IIa entered production, the earlier Model I were phased out.
