Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 Erla Haube by Design Team Daedalus
Unit: Stab II./JG3 Schipol, November 1943
Pilot: Major Kurt Brandle, 180 victories KIA November3, 1943
This aircraft was not equipped to carry a drop tank.
In late summer of 1943 two improvements were made to improve all around pilot vision which was restricted by the standard Bf109 canopy and all metal head armor.
The Erla Haube canopy was introduced at the end of 1943 which eliminated to heavy canopy framing and improved the pilots vision in all direction. Many in-service Bf109-G's were retrofitted in the field, but the overwhelming majority were factory installed and it became the canopy for all following Messerschmitt marks.
Also, the so called Galland Panzer head armor with the upper section made of bullet proof glass improving the pilots vision to the rear became the production standard and again, was retrofitted to many 109's already in field.
Even so, there was no "standard" Bf 109G-6, as the production included different radio equipment, oil cooler types, antenna masts, etc. which were available at different times during the production runs. So each model we have created has its own unique features.
Pstrany developed the models using Paul Rebuffat's Messerschmitt model - with permission - as a starting framework and updated the shape, and added a plethora of details, new parts, and ideas. Pstrany also developed the models for the drop tanks, weapons and racks.
Captain Kurt created paints for each, the 2D instrument panel, the individual .dp files, the air files and the aircraft.cfg files.
Mav SCASM edited each model so that they have animated wing slats, drop tanks, and other features, as well as optimizing models for the best possible frame rates. Mav also developed the idea for the 2d panel to be offset for the Revi gun sight to match the CFS2 reticle.
We have all benefited from the assistance and guidance of others in the community. Special thanks to Wolfi and Huub Vink for their kind assistance and to all who have contributed their knowledge directly and indirectly.

S73 Co-Belligerent Air Force textures by Sopwith Chameleon
This set of textures have been compiled in order to fit the Savoia Marchetti S.73 with Alfa Romeo AR126/RC10 engines v2.1 by Stefano Meneghini, & converted for CFS 2 by UncleTgt. No other changes to the textures have been made.
This is a repaint by Sopwith Chameleon & is based on the North Africa scheme used by SM81 aircraft of the 600 Squadriglia, North Africa 1943.
To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.
Thanks to: 1150 for providing the texture files for upload, Sopwith for giving permission to upload to SOH.
This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions.
The Me-262A and ME-262B U1 originally for CFS2 converted for use with FS2004. Panel (both main and DVC)is equipped with modern main gauges. Original german gauges are included. The sound comes close to what the original "Schwalbe" must have sounded like. For those of you using force feedback sticks, this gives you a great feeling what it felt like to drive an old jet-bird like this. This package already includes my panel update. Original CFS2 authors stated in Readme-file Enjoy! By Warrant, 2004-03-02 13:21:42
Kurt Schwabauer 'Captain Kurt' - Model textures, 2D panels, aircraft.cfg, air files, and .dp development
Paul Straney 'pstrany' - Bombs and rocket models, prop textures and .dp development
Wolfi and Shessi - Pilot models
Ali Cat - Bf109 oil/coolant gauge
Paul Rebuffat gave permission to Paul Straney to use his models for further model development. That project has been underway for some time but has been put on hold currently due to some real life issues Paul is working through. In the meantime we developed a number of skins, flight files, panels and weapons which are compatible with the original Bf109 model series.
While working on the project I played around with the alpha channels in the texture files and discovered I could somewhat correct the profiles of the different mark's rudders to a more accurate outline, and that I could load the pilots from our previous Team Daedalus Fw190 project into the 109 cockpits.
Therefore while we are on hold for the new models, I can update the original models to a degree that makes it worthwhile for them to be made available - at least as place holders until the new Messerschmitt models can be finished.
