For sure keep a weather eye and take Warnings seriously- those mean a tornado or dangerous storm has been sighted. You may only have minutes or seconds to respond so have a plan. Listening in sure confirms things like this bring out the best and worst of people. While PD deals with looters and the usual calls I just heard what sounds like a school that managed to get some staff in and are opening up dorms and food supplies for those needing shelter. Going to be a long week.

don't worry Frank, mine was not a serious attempt at repainting the IIIB, just having fun. Since I fly almost exclusively over Oz, I felt a RAAF bird was lacking. This took about 20 minutes, and was meant only for myself

The #48 team did put together a good race & seemed to steadily work their way up. - Don't know what happened to Kahne there at the end - he really dropped off. - Seems like Kurt was only good in clean air - Danica did get some boos - is the "love affair" over? Hypothetical: - If Logano had been leading with Stewart in 2nd & Newman in 3rd, what would have happened? :icon_lol:

Well the missus and the kid talked me into going to see this one. No spoilers here but I can say my experience was very subdued and distracted by a young man, carrying a small black suitcase and wearing a black backpack, who skipped the line and went right into the theater. When I asked about him I was told he's OK, he had a ticket. I'm thinking so what if he had a ticket, who is he and where did he go? He went a couple of screens over and I didn't hear a boom, and after the movie I saw him leaving with the same items. Took all the fun out of going as several times my instinct said to leave. I was wondering how I would have felt from a hospital bed, "geez I should have followed my gut". Anyway, as one who saw all the originals more than once, this one kind of left me wondering what they'er doing over there at Paramount. On to Iron Man III.

Joan was the aircraft flown by Lt Russel Fredendall of the 507th FS/ 404th FG. He was hit by Flak on the 25th of June 1944, near Foret de Cinglais while flying at 200ft. His aircraft crashed and exploded and Lt Fredenhall was killed.

Wonderful story here... http://news.yahoo.com/marine-dog-reunited-surprise-ceremony-205112134.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-XbtHlgW_o DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — When Marine Sgt. Ross Gundlachserved as a dog handler in Afghanistan, he told the yellow lab who was his constant companion that he'd look her up when he returned home. "I promised her if we made it out of alive, I'd do whatever it took to find her," Gundlach said. On Friday, he made good on that vow with help from some sentimental state officials in Iowa who know how to pull off a surprise. Since leaving active duty to take classes at the University of Wisconsin this summer, Gundlach, of Madison, Wis., had been seeking to adopt 4-year-old Casey.

Why? A fair question. There's lots of reasons, good and bad, but the permit request process shows that at least at some level some states want to have that question answered. One reason is what Daveroo said, keeping up with buddies or just keep tabs on what's going on in your area, call it a hobby if you like. Another I can think of is in places where dangerous weather is common. Critical information can not only save you own life but can save neighbors and friends as well.

In most cases where they are restricted you can apply for a permit to have a scanner by explaining your need. Most of the rules were made well before cell phones, and PCs were not commonplace. Now there are sites that you can listen right on the computer as well as phone apps. It's been clear for a long time that in many ways our technological cleverness is far out pacing our wisdom to wield it well. Like was mentioned already when we really want privacy we use phones or face to face.

Many thanks John. I didnt know that. Explains why the Tigermoth trainers were all yellow. I know very little of the WWII schemes and regulations. Thanks DVJ. It will not have floats though, nor scenery. This package will sport two versions of airframes; inline 6 Rangers and radial Warner Super Scarabs. No differences in panels aside from classic krinkle black to chipped up 'i need new paint' to restored, high quality wood laminants. All of the panels were pretty much the same, though they did have some slight variations, they were mostly all the same shape. The pacers however had 'alot' of changes and model versions. They actually had probably 5 versions of 'factory' panels, and they have kits now for updated modern version panels which I captured one in the 'bush' version of the Pacer. So, the Fairchild will not be as diverse as the Pacer in that there arent so many versions. And..... They will be able to shed their skirts off! (wheel pants. wheel cover things. aerodynamic landing gear shells). :S

I cant offer a good answer on why Afghanistan isn't buying with there money. However on the purchase of Russian Helo's I can somewhat. Most if not all of Afghanistan's Pilots and crews are trained on Russian Equipment. If US made Helo's were bought and sent , the cost goes way up. You would have re train Crews and pilots and that will almost increase and excel the cost and extend the afghan mission. By going to Russian made you wont encounter that increase cost of training and also Russian Helo's are cheap. So in a way US Tax Payers are actually saving by going the Russian Route on Helo's for Afghanistan. Just my train of thought on this.
