An option for some planes is Cat Launch. Its not hard to setup. Tango_Romeo did a tutorial on it. You can even use it for a JATO/RATO assisted takeoff. There is even an option for jets, thought the jets have a bug. If you need any assistance let me know.

:banghead: ok here is what i have. first... Allen, it worked great. I now have a wep_puw_50kg_gp bomb. might actually work better as a 100kg. I think i made it a little too big. the 100kg i made is more like a 150 to a 250. so i need a new scaled version for the 50. no big deal. I'm having trouble with the textures now. it seems it wants to use only the portion that the wep_puw_12kg_gp bomb uses. i mapped it to a different location. :isadizzy:

the prop pitch has a huge effect on you top speed. a variable pitch prop will give you the ability to adjust the pitch to gain the best angle for climbing and at cruise. remember that the propeller is a wing. if the pitch is to great it will stall and no longer creat lift. or in this case thrust. see if the aircraft has a variable pitch prop. if it does then find the propeller controls and use them while flying.

there is no text that I know of. its funny that alot of people think that this is a game. we must remember it is a simulator. the kool thing about this is real world information translates well. In other words, what works on a real aircraft can be applied to these aircraft. i suggest getting a copy of Air wrench. now you can not make adjustments in it (unless you get the full version) but it will help show you the effects of your changes. just a thought: i think that thrust is equal to torque but please don't quote me on that. In automobiles if you increase the torque then you increase its ability to go faster. torque gets you going and Horse power keeps you going. is an old drag racers term. i believe that thrust can be applied in the same way. sorry for the rambling.

Half the time it says it can't find the file. or i get errors. maybe i don't have the dos link set right. if you could write the commands so i can paste them in. maybe it will help me. oh the BGL you sent works great. i may have made it too small. i should up it 15%. or should i say drop it to75 or 80 and not 65.

Hey all, Ok I had an idea. I wanted to take the Aerocrate's 112lb bomb and make it into a 65lb bomb. I put it through ModelconvertX and exported it as a 3DS model. i then imported it into Gmax, retextured it and exported it as both an mdl and bgl. problem is the bgl doesn't work and i can't make the mdl into a bgl.

Well not quite. I have to do the GSL scenery for my last two belgian bases. To tell you the truth my GSL is in a state of flux. Here is whats going on. I am doing new gsl for ALL of the Aerocrate's airfields. Some i'm only adding a few thing but most don't have any scenery. There are 17 airbases in the Aerocrate's scenery. only 11 have anything on them. I'm Removing all of the AA guns and static planes from the GSL. This is 1917 not 1916. so out with the old kites and in with the new. My original scenery will be added to this. Maybe a few minor changes. There are 8 airfields in my original scenery.

Hey all, This is for anyone who has or does use FSSC. I'm continuing my WWI scenery and I have run into a problem. When I create my Fuel areas i'm adding a square poly for the ground textures. it just marks the location of the re-fuel area. Since i did a system restore, i'm ending up with is a black square for my poly when its viewed in game. I'm doing everything the same as before. I've even taken one that I know is correct and ran it through scasm again and get the black texture again. did i setup scasm wrong? Its kind of driving me nuts.

Yup. I just followed what Allen said. I'll have the new CAT CFGs for both ships real soon. Ummmm... What Camo? I didn't add any. all i did was export the gmax model to a fs9 MDL. then used mk-MDLC and converted it to CFS2. Popped it in game and voila. There you have it. As far as I know the XML isn't needed for CFS2. maybe later if you want to develope it for FS2004 or FSX. the plane is the F1M2 Pete we modified for the Nissin. though i wish we could make a BGL of it and have it on the non cat models. oh well.

    Hi Fibber,

It's just an artifact from how I compiled my original zipfiles using ( an old version of) winzip. I deleted the WIP design files from the upload, but discovered later that when people view the zip contents using windows explorer you can still see the empty folders ... go figure.

Glad you get some enjoyment from my efforts, that's why I post them ...

    Cheers UT
  2. BTW Fibber, I don't know if I already sent you thiese pictures, but here are the only pictures I have found of Kagman. The first was taken in the early sixties when it was still an operational field- used by the CIA apparently. The second shows the same view from the same location- no more runway but you can just make out a line of trees that runs along Kagman Road- the old runway. The third picture shows a view of Saipan from the north looking south during the War. If you look real carefully- and use your imagination- you can make out what is probably the end of the runway with that large taxiway coming off the end that shows in the first picture.

    Thanks again for pokin' around.

Maybe someday one of us will stumble upon some forgotten snap shot.

  3. MR;
This info is probably stale to you but I did find a reference somewhere about Kagman that stated that Kagman road WAS/IS the old airfield runway. Lost the site but it was somewhere in a tourist BS lure.
As to photos, This must have been a memoriable place to be. Can't find ANY airborne photos or re-construction plans for the place. Maybe the Japanese side has some, as it was a Jap field.
  4. MR preliminary search found this; http://www.vmb612.com/photographs.htm
  5. Hiya, Fibber. Yes, that is a wonderful website.

I tell ya what would really be a find. I have had very limited success looking for images of it- but aerial photos of Kagman Field, Saipan. It was a fighter strip out on the Kagman Peninsula- east coast, central Saipan. I have a runway "sketched" in there. I have only been able to find 2 very distant photos that show the runway- taken from the hills north of the airfield. If you go there in Google Earth you will see a road that runs east/west named Kagman Road. I am very positive that this road is built on top of what used to be the runway at Kagman field and that is where I sketched in a runway for it.
Anyway, like I said- any contemporaneous photos or images of Kagaman Field- especially from the air that show its layout- would be most welcome.

    Thanks!
  6. You and Talon make me jealous!
