I was greeted early this morning with a message on Facebook from someone I was anxious to hear from. Francesco Missarino who was the original designer of the AMX Ghibli gave us the go ahead to produce the AMX as freeware and has graciously extended his helping hand in the form of a beta tester along with several AMX pilots. He is very happy that his very first flight Sim model will be revised and flown by a whole new generation of simmers and we are very pleased that we can now make it happen.
I wish to thank two people who have made this conversion possible: first of all, Bluebear (Postbaer61) took on the initial conversion to Native FSX to get the project started. Next I was approached by Henk who was interested in the project and had some excellent ideas on how things could be streamlined. Specifically how we could get around the cumbersome and outdated dll modules used by the original addon. From that point on Henk has worked his magic to build an AMX that I think. . .no I know you'll enjoy flying. He really has done an amazing job as he continues to put the finishing touches on the Ghibli. So thanks to both these fine members for their contributions.
Now a word about the AMX. . .currently the working model that will be released is the "Clean" version. I have not spoken to Henk about how the other models would follow or if they will at this time. When I know, I'll let you know. There is no plan currently to do any additional liveries other than the original. If you want a particular livery check with some of our experts to see if that's something they'd be interested in doing for you. The only paint kit available right now is the one that was installed with the airplane and honestly there have been some changes to the texture sheets so they are not really accurate to what is being done at this time.
Finally, you will need XMLTools in order for some gauges to function properly. . .the AMX will be compatible with P3D, which will require the 64bit version of that utility for that program. Once again, thank you Bluebear, Henk and Francesco for bringing the AMX back.
