FS9 loads but won't run

Hi all
I'm sure there is a simply answer to my problem, but it's driving me mad trying to find it. I have loaded FS9 discs using the normal install where it puts it under program files, install is o.k. until i try to run it then nothing ( by the way using Windows 7 ) Have tried changing compatibility to XP where it work before, still nothing. Have made a separate folder not under program files, reloaded discs tried to run it and get access denied. Any help sorting this will be gratefully accepted. Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place

Tried the links above, had no effect. Solved problem by starting up old PC, running XP. Loaded FS9 and it works perfectly. Thanks for the help

I run FS9 on a WIN XP SP3 (No updates thank you, and that includes Windows Defender) installation and I aim to keep it that way.
The most recent issue with FS9 on newer Windows installs has been exhaustively discussed, see e.g.

have you updated your Win7 install? then it may be has to do with this update KB3086255

a friend of mine had that problem removing that update solves it

Thanks for the tips, it was the KB3086255 update.
