Your card is DX10 or higher so it will work OK.

DX10 preview mode is not needed, the gauge works on its own regardless of what mode FSX is in.

    Great - thanks!
Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

Unfortunately no. Two of us are without a PC for a few days so we can't work efficiently

The first version of USS Coral Sea will be released tomorrow with a modified version of the F-4B that will allow you to make use of its meatball.
The carrier will be available to all current and future customers of the F-4B Phantom II and while work in progress, it already features:
-Custom FLOLS that will guide you precisely on the 3-wire! Made according to the USN specifications.
-High detail 3D model and textures
-Animated deck crew and static vehicles: See the catapult operator telling the cat officer that the pressure is on and he then catapults you off!
-Ambient animations to add to immersion: working crew, windows and hangar doors shutting in bad weather and other ambience helps make this a living carrier
This will also be a benchmark for our upcoming USS Midway which will be a separate release along with Coral Sea later!
To purchase and see more, visit us at http://simworksstudios.com/products/military-aviation/f-4b-phantom-ii/#prices

The catapult officer signals for launch from catapult #3, with the "island" in the background.

The deck crew watches as an F-4B is about to be launched from catapult #1 off the coast of Vietnam.

While the "grapes" are working hard, the catapult operator gives a "good to go" signal to the catapult officer

Overlooking the deck from the island. The vehicle crews are getting ready for their shift while a group of seamen are watching from above

For those of us who have already purchased the F-4B, will we receive a download link for the Coral Sea as a single item or do we just download the plane package again?

  7. #357
You will need to re-download the plane as it includes some modifications to operate with the carrier FLOLS system, as well as much more optimised textures. The new version comes only with an HD texture option which is ~35% smaller in footprint compared to the Lite version you have installed. We didn't include a Lite version again, as the difference between HD and Lite is negligible now.

No other changes have been made to the F-4 compared to 0.93e.

When the new version that includes the ship is up, an automatic e-mail notification will come.

If you use AICarriers, but don't want JAVA, then you may be interested in a new version that uses the .NET framework.

    Take a look here.

    It's coming along nicely.
    Drops ordinance like a champ.
The back seat works and it's possible to track and lock-up targets.....though the few hits I have been able to make so far have been with the AIM-9's.
The AIM-7's are too damned realistic........

Below is a test flight report I posted a couple of months ago when I was testing it with the first "Battleground Vietnam" mission (to Haiphong). s
This was shortly before Simworks Studios released their update with USS Coral Sea....and for the record, it turned out that I DID NOT have one switch set correctly, doh!!)
    ************************************************** ************************************************** ******************************
I elected to take off from the default carrier and formed up with the wingman without issues.
The flight was a lot smoother than before, since I changed the weather to "Fair".

About 20 miles from target I saw a couple of radar contacts, which I knew would be the Mig-19's.

I was able to lock up one of them for about a minute before it blew past me at my low 9 O'clock, just after I went feet dry.

I still had all my bombs.......was about 30 seconds from target and had a lot of "Smash" (airspeed), so I decided to press on with the attack while telling the wingman to cover my Six.

Just then the FLACK started up and there were some strange noises....couldn't tell if it was me getting hit, or what.....I figured it was too late to worry about it now and pressed on.

I pickled the bombs over the fuel farm on the docks. All my bombs left the racks....but I didn't see any evidence of any explosions ....and yes, I checked my switches to make sure everything was properly armed

I pulled hard off the target using max afterburners, feeling pretty good about myself because I was not a fireball and had even managed to egress properly to the south......but then I noticed one of the MIG's crossing in front of me. I checked my airspeed and figured I had enough energy to stay and fight, so I pulled up into the vertical...(while the Mig turned in the horizontal)...rolled 108 degrees and pulled the nose down as hard as I could without losing control. The MIG was RIGHT THERE!!!!...but turning hard too.
I tried to get in a good position for a Sidewinder, but I knew I was pulling so hard that even if I did get a tone, I wouldn't get a good launch.
It passed perfectly through the center of my sight and I thought "DAMN, if I had a gun right now I would have had him!".

I was only able to get a quick screenshot before he got away.

I was going to try and go back into the vertical for another try at him, but then I looked at my fuel state and was shocked. I was down to less than 3000 lbs!

I immediately disengaged and started heading to the ship (which was over 200 miles away)...and called my wingman to rejoin.

When I was about 40 miles away I was down to less than 1500 lbs of fuel, so I decided to try and spawn a carrier (Forrestal) and land on it.

Although still Beta, the Phantom looks and feels complete already to me. Tacpack works good, framerate is good, all systems are mostly working.

Gents, we're kicking off a 20% sale which will start as of now and ends July 4th, midnight EST!
To get the F-4 with the discounted price, use "independenceday" as a discount code when checking out.

On Monday we are also going to release version 0.95 which has the first iteration of the navigation systems, air data computer and more systems fixes and updates. MilViz has also kindly provided a modified version of their RADAR scope to us which will debut on this version. The new scope is based on MilViz's DX10 technology and is a visual and performance upgrade over our older scope.

Quick question, if it will be P3D compatible some day, will that be a separate product in case I buy the FSX version now?

    i7-4770K 4.4 Ghz - ASUS z87 PRO - Corsair H100i - 16 gig Kingston Beast DDR3 2166 Mhz - Gainward GTX 1070 GS GLH - CX 750M PSU - CoolerMaster HAF X case

  19. #369
It will become P3D compatible and you don't need an extra purchase.

Can't wait to receive the update!

Is the USS Midway still in development aswell?

    Cheers,

    Randy

  21. #371
The Midway is in developement still. Right now we are focused on the F-4 and Coral Sea in that order, as we are too few to spread.
Once the Coral Sea is done, everything on it will be ported over to the Midway as has been the case so far.

Orion has created the basis for something very cool for our carriers, as in you will be able to customize them.

The CV-43 version coming with the F-4 will have some customization capability, i.e. showing and hiding aircraft (i.e. to create a clear deck configuration).

For the standalone CV-41 and 43 we intend to go further, but I cannot say much yet.

    That is great news!
And you also already answered my next question, which was about about having static aircraft parked on the decks

I really like how both of my favorite developers are working together on their Phantoms. Very cool!

Is anyone ever going to do the Spey variants??

The B/N's rear looks more like an FG/FGR than the MV J/S but it has that awful boil on it's chin that needs to come off!!
