    WOW!

    Really beautiful!

Another step towards having nice looking WWII Italian aircrafts.

All we need now to send into permanent retirement the obsolete IS4G's, CFS1-derived, Fiat BR20 Cicogna and Macchi C.200 is some generous soul willing to create new multi-res models of them.
There's another Macchi that was never updated, and it's the Macchi C.205 Veltro. IS4G did such a nice job on her that we can live with it, I still fly IS4G's Veltro with good enjoyment.

With a Fiat BR20 and Macchi C.200 brought to today's standards we'll have a wonderful updated Regia Aeronautica fleet!

    Cheers!

IS4G Br20 is still the better one available. There's a new MC205 Veltro made over a FS2004 plane that is almost perfect. Giuli also did a good MC205 Orione that I converted to CFS2. To be truthful, it's a pity we don't have a French counterpart to Giuli.

    Cheers

    Hi Pepe!

    Thank you for your reply!

I wonder why the BR20 is so neglected. After all she equipped a lot more bombardment units than the smaller Capronis and she fought on all fronts the Regia Aeronautica was involved in, including the pitiful participation to the last phases of the Battle of Britain.

I knew about Giuli's Orione, which I added to my hangar as soon as you posted the conversion, but the Orione was not produced in significant numbers. The last Orione armament arrangement was not deemed as satisfactory as the Veltro, since the hub-firing 20mm cannon, plus ammo, made the aircraft heavier and slower than the standard Veltro array of 2 x 13mm, nose mounted Breda-Safat machine guns plus two MG151 20mm wing cannons. Almost like the difference between the lighter P-51B/C "razorback" vs. the heavier "bubbletop" D version, in this case reversed.

All of the front line R.S.I. fighter units were equipped with the Veltro, not the Orione, together with the few units which could enjoy the superior Fiat G.55 Centauro. The main R.S.I. group flying the Macchi C.205 Veltro was "Asso di Bastoni", based in Reggio Emilia and Italian ace Luigi Gorrini flew a Veltro in the "Asso di Bastoni" group.

Besides, I meant aircrafts built with CFS2 in mind, like the new splendid Lampard/Shessi's Me410 Hornisse. Only few, among the model selection built for FS9, have a multi-LOD model file. Lack of multi-LOD limits their usage to QC only, unless one has a new computer, which in some cases might not suffice either when displaying large numbers of aircrafts, like attacking a bomber formation with an escort, as I read several times here.

A good example could be the absolutely stunning SM79, Fiat CR.42 and Macchi 202 Folgore built by MVG. All true works of art, as eye candy as a virtual 3d model can be, they are only good in Free Flight for leisure flight enjoyment. Even a 4 against 4 Quick Combat situation can slow the animation down to less than 10 f.p.s. with them, at least on my veteran rig. I'll post comments again when I'll be able to afford a more powerful pc.

    Cheers!

    Hi Stefano,
I'm finishing the C.R.D.A. Cant.Z.1007bis "Alcione" (Monoderiva & Bideriva) for FS9 (initial GMax model by Milton Shupe), after the relase of this plane (I hope before May end) I'll start with the C.R.D.A. Cant.Z.506B "Airone" (the famous Italian floatplane), in "Maritime Bomber" and "Soccorso" version (completely new). I have in my archive also a veeery good Macchi MC.200 "Saetta" (Original CFS3 model by P.Zazzetta/Italianwings)...
If someone is interested in CFS2 conversion of my Macchi MC.205 "Veltro" (the last plane I made for FS9)......

    Stefano,
i've in mind some projects, after i've finished my work on the Warhawk, that is: 1) re-texture and re-panel the IS4G Br20; 2) make something with IS4g Sm79, or and this is better, convert Manuele's one, but i'm not good with Dps, aren't you, perhaps? 3) i'm temptated to do any thing with Manuele's Veltro, but i'm not an expert in such kinds of matters, Could someone offer his help? All, obviously after some time, since now i have a lot do in real life....
After all, do you know how many Oriones were operational an with how many units?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Giuseppe

    Actual progress

    I'm repainting the Caproni Ca.314A bomber and preparing a Ca.314C attack plane... The package will include a Ca.310 Libeccio, a Ca.311, a Ca.313 and FIVE Ca.314.

    Cheers

Please, excuse me Giuseppe, but I missed your reply entirely.

Manuele's MVG SM79 was already converted in March 2008:

    http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...d=150&id=17089

for which I uploaded alternative props and exh effects here:

    http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...id=47&id=14135

If you want my opinion re-texturing IS4G's Fiat BR.20 is not worth the effort, because new textures were already done for it in the past and, although other planes benefited a lot from new skins, this one doesn't. It's simply too old.

As to the MC.205 Orione, I have no other information than what I posted already.

    Cheers!

I have the Capronis in my FS9, really nice airplanes!
I look forrward to get them for CFS2 also!

Aircrafts tested in Quick Combat and Mission

I used formations of 12 planes as adversaries without bugs. It's enough? If so, I'll begin to package them in the next days.

    Cheers

Its still under development, so I'm afraid you need to be patient (like we all).
