The SIM SKUNK WORKS is proud to present the model of the REPUBLIC F-84F "Super Hog". This model is at the top of our technology, it shows innovative and unique features, such as texture "redux", 3D lights at continuosly variable intensity, the Dynamic Drag Index concept and much more. We are confident that our users will find it very interesting. Like all SSW models the F-84F SSW is freely downloadable and can be used fully for a limited time, to remove the limitation you must purchase an activation key.
I purchased this aircraft today and it looks GREAT. Congratulations to the team!!!

I must admit disappointment however that my registration did not give me an airplane I can enjoy longer than 8 MINUTES because even though you have my money instantly, I have to wait for an activation key which I assume due to time zones, I will get some time in the next day or two.

Gents you need a better system to activate your purchased software.

I appreciate truly the effort in the technical design here, but you have a way to go with ecommerce.

Eric,we understand the disappoint you are talking about. But we have chosen the "manual" activation because,as you all guys know, the piracy is a big problem. Activate the products via some automatic DLL's means that in less than 24 hours your products are cracked and available everywere for free.
So,if you want to enjoy our works, also in the future, the only way to let our software house be self substainable (because the main purpose of the cashflow is to feed servers costs) is this.
Again, sorry for the little delay, and hope you will enjoy our Hog.
    Ciao,
    /Alessandro

    Alessandro,

I started the purchase of this model, only to discover that the only way to pay is via PayPal. There it stops. Though they say you can pay withouth an account, there is no possibility to do that. That's not correct of PayPal, I would even go as far to call that fraudulous.

Alas, I would gladly have bought it.

I bought the F84 two days ago and all steps described worked without any flaw. I thought I should mention that.

But you had to use PP, didn't you?

Of course, but I have a pp account. It went like a breeze, as usual.

So what's your point? Can you read what I wrote? And do you understand what I wrote? I have the impression it's both times 'no'.

    Cees,

I wrote a post to this thread (not as particular answer to your individual problem, if you look closely) because readers can get the impression that there is something wrong with SSWs ordering process, which it is not from my point of view. The process and how to proceed is well described, as well as the motivations of the developers about choosing that way.
I wrote this post on a "been there, done that" base and have absolutely no complaint.

If you have a paypal problem maybe you should contact paypal about it. I think this is a bit of OT here.

Just bought this one after a long conversation this morning with a PayPal-lady.
I can't say I'm really happy with this add-on. My preview screen turns black, when I try to load another livery of the Hog. After that the plane is almost completly gone in flight at least from the outside view. What's wrong with this addon? Or am I doing something wrong?

    Cees..

Did you receive an activation key? The model is effectively in 'Demo Mode' until activated. I don't have the Hog and won't be getting it but this is how the F104G worked

    Hi,
I suggest you to ask in the SSW forum, it's the quickest way to find a solution to your issues

    Hi,
tested Today "over the shoulder" special weapon release procedure for Mk.7 nuclear bomb with Low Angle Bombing System (LABS, MARION AN 3C-2E LABS indicator). Auto release.
    Everything works very, very nice!

    From 1:23: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpJU...utu.be&t=1m23s

Just pity than no falling weapon after release and no any hit effect. Perhaps no Mk.7 in this SSW "Weapon Pack 4.0"? This could be added in the future? It will be nice.

After 50h in the air with F-84F I published full review of the "Hog". Maybe model isnt perfect in 100% in total (just 95% ) but offers many more than standard addons.
    I like it very mutch.

    Congratulations to SSW whole TEAM!

My latest find with this plane was that it is quite an OOMer. Two minutes at the threshlod at Flightbeam KSFO and the bell started to rang. In five minutes it was a CTD.

William, what are the specs of your rig?

    Cheers,

After my initial problems this turned out to be a very good addon!

    Cees

Err, I changed to a Carenado Seneca and flew my route without dings and dongs (sim restart of course).

My rig is 4GHz CPU Intel, 16GB RAM, GTX680.

William, Micro$oft came up with a fix for OOM's.

You can find it here: http://kostasfsworld.wordpress.com/2...ory-helperfix/

Together with a lot of helpful advice.

This page (also from Kosta) should help you as well: http://kostasfsworld.wordpress.com/f...don-vas-usage/

There is also a link towards an M$ tool that monitors VAS! Very usefull!!

    Dumonceau

Thanks Dumonceau, I just fly this plane in less congested areas where it is fine. I´m aware of the VAS usage and have done what I can to prevent OOMs. Some combinations just don´t work.

With my former and slower PC I did not have any OOMs, it seems that faster the PC can produce the scenery, the faster we get OOMs. This rig did not have problems to run at max settings, but the OOMs appeared. Now to avoid ooms I run at the same settings as with the former rig, only smoother. San Fransisco and L.A. are just too loaded with sceneries.

For the life of me I've looked high and low in the manuals and can't find the 'Know how's' for the loadout configurator. How do you use it?

The SSW F-104 is an awesome looking and flying aircraft however I too suffer oom's with it usually it takes a lot longer than 8 minutes but eventually freeze up or crash. I have an Alienware area 51. This is a terrific model, I love it while it's working. SSW, please make your AC more consumer/computer friendly if you can. One of the few AC that freezes up my puter. Even the Milviz F-100D runs without a hitch on my rig.

Same here, I have frequent OOMs with the F-84F and the Tornado due to high VAS over congested scenery. MIlviz F-100, F-4E and Aerosoft F-14 running smooth without a hitch.
I've talked to SSW about it but they "will not do anything about it since they cannot replicate the situation".

Quite surprising. SSW planes are the most stable planes in my computer. I never suffered OOM problems here, and I have more than a thousand hours flying time with them, most with the G-zipper. Maybe it can be related with other addons?

  24. #199
Of my many tests, I have flown the F-104's, F-84F over long distances with fairly high density scenery at both ends and no OOM's or hitting the VAS limit. The Tornado however is a different story but I found out (and this applies to many other models with heavy systems) that in order to preserve VAS, you should not open the FSX flight planner nor any other FSX menu bar options (the latter after starting the flight). This helps lower the VAS footprint but be advised that with any photoreal scenery, you stand a good chance of using up your VAS with the Tornado.

I am a huge fan of the SSW aircraft I own (just the F-104S and Tornado at the moment) but I have to concur that I do suffer from OOMs in the Tornado in FSX:SE. Usually I fly over photo scenery and I have some high usage airports installed, although I tend not to fly out of them in the Tornado. My Tornado flights in FSX:SE don't usually last all that long. If I stay totally clear of add on sceneries (airports) at the same time as flying the Tornado usually I will be OK. The Tornado is also much better in P3D V3 (obviously) due to the much improved memory management of that program.

It is the same situation with a lot of detailed aircraft add ons. I have found that particularly in FSX I can either have a flight simulator or a scenery simulator; I can't have both simultaneously.

    Cheers,
