Agreed Austin. The SB2C might be my favorite carrier aircraft of the era. You can beat it to death and it still keeps on ticking which is good for me.

Shuffling along to Kavieng, AYBK to AYKV.

Off the to the Cape, Cape Gloucester. No adf there, hmm...

Down at CPG. White-knuckled it for a bit as it clouded up on that end of the island and was diving in like a bat out of hell. Gotta love those big dive brakes!

In case anyone was wondering, no I don't look at the screenies until after I land. I banish them to a temp folder to open after hopefully getting a green duenna. Check Coles Catalogue and Woolworths Catalogue. (The Snapper program shows the aircraft's distance to the nearest airport if you have that setting ticked off). I just like knowing where I was at that moment in time when looking back. :d

Quick dash from CPG to FIN.

Had a quick lunch at the clam bar. Off to Dobodura.

Down at AYGR. Appreciate the sturdy landing gear on these Navy birds. Good for my occasional ham-fisted landings.

Moving along, this time to Milne Bay AYGN.

  19. #19
Down in one piece at Milne Bay. Dive brakes saved my butt again.

Picked up Willy on the radio. Something about finding "that dang carrier that PRB hid somewhere".

Screenie from Cecil the navigator's perspective...

Dropped off the corndogs and beer. Furthering the cause to Port Moresby.

Down safe at AYPY. Was nearly on top on the field when we dove in. Cecil likes to keep the canopy open because of the frequent airsickness when I'm at the controls...

Going to go find a nice big palm tree, sit under it and write me Mum a nice letter.
