    IL2 and PE2 aircraft

Are either of these in the works for CFS3?

I've seen that the Virtavia freeware page lists a PE2 (which converts to Gmax ok) and Mike has shown us a wip of his model. Can't find an IL2 anywhere, there are some CFS2 models around though.

With Andrés new theatre there's a big hole for suitable aircraft!

Thanks, I'll take a look. The author is the same chap who made the Arado 234. He has some other nice models too.

yep. a few of his russian ww2 models are mentioned here aswell.

much important for us should be the fact all the free downloadable / editable models made by Emmanuel Baranger aka helijah are designed for a free open-source flight simulator Flight Gear (FG).
that means those models arent any toys for any 3d scene render art (still they could be), they are builded with a similar mesh part logic and acceptable polycount which we would set for our MSFS/ CFS3 airplanes

if you are lazy to search helijahs complete airplane library, you may check this page:
    http://helijah.free.fr/flightgear/hangaren.htm

if nothing, all the helijah airplanes should exists in the original Blender mesh source at least, or in something which this free 3d modeler can read or export, uvww mapped. the textures should be available in its original layered Gimp format *) aswell. very handy for skin makers. all for free in the name of open-source

*) as a part of the current FG airplane package

If someone is doing an Il-2 project, I can supply pictures of the airworthy one near me.

how the Il-2 by helijah looks as a quick CFS3 port... used the enduser Flight Gear 3d model source (AC3D) and included skins.

    I want one!!

(That looks very good! Judging by the screenshots, it seems like it needs a cockpit. I think I can supply some reference material, if needed)

I may share what I have done, which basicaly is just a pure conversion of the FG model into gmax and into CFS3 airplane menu. Took me all cca 20 mins of work Maybe somebody will overtake it.

Ive decided to try the FG model conversion instead of the CGTrade or SketchFab model source because I was curious if it could be yet possible. It surprisingly is, keeping the original mesh part names.

ok, here we go, Il-2 Sturmovik airplane initial source pack for CFS3 aircraft add-on makers. uncludes orginal FG pack stuff, basic gmax source and quickported CFS3 airplane slot.

I was curious why hellijah created the model with fully open rear gunner station, if such Il-2 is historicaly correct and found a pretty nice article with a lot of photos and paint schemes. just sharing, link is here:

Just a bump. Very much need Il-2 and not to forget the Pe-2 also. A shortage of Russian aircraft in CFS3.

    Shocked and jealous

Was shocked and jealous to see the many Russian aircraft available for CFS 2 . It's hopeful that one day we will have just a fraction of what is available for CFS2. Maybe then i won't have to play Il-2 '46 so much to get my fix for the eastern front . Been away from CFS2 for many years. Don't even know if it plays well with Win 7 64 bit .

Above all others the Il-2 and Pe-2 is most needed. Thankful for the interest in this forgotten part of WWII missing in CFS3 . With all the work being done for the Eastern Front CFS3 will cover just about every theater in WWII.
