    Hardware Question

I'm looking at the possibility of investing in new hardware. There are so many new types of processor that I haven't kept up with, so I thought I'd ask here if this might be able to run P3D at least without looking like a slideshow...

    3 or 4 suggestions:

    1. If you can afford it why not get a 1TB HDD just for flight simming
    2. I would go for a minimum 22" monitor.
    3. i3 processor is sufficient. That is what I am using with no problems.
    4. To run P3D you need a graphics card with a minimum of 4GB ram and supporting DX11 as that is what P3D uses. I have a NVidia GTX670.
    5. 6GB of RAM should be sufficient but 8GB is better.

    Cheers
    Pat

    Specs look like a laptop.

The processor will end up being the culprit on this one. You would need an i5 and at least 1 GB of memory for the video card.

What sort of budget are you looking at Tom?

I'd be looking at something like an i7 6700, a Samsung 500GB 850 Evo SSD and an ASUS Z170-AR MoBo for example, depending on your resources

Graphic Cards are a matter of personal choice, a Gigabyte GTX Titan Xtreme might float my boat but is really over kill!
P3D seems to be (like FSX) fairly CPU intensive, and if you use a lot of ORBX scenery (like me!) a 500GB SSD is a must, although I use the 1TB Evo myself ................... I'm into more is better!

Just my 'suggestions' for what they're worth.

I noted Pat suggested a better monitor, my suggested pick of the mid range is the BenQ RL2455HM 24" LED, which runs at 120Hz and is a reasonable price.

the amount of ram doesnt matter as P3D is only 32bit program the most it will use is 4gb if your OS is 64bit compared to 2gb if your running a 32bit OS

I have 32GB and the other 28gb are idle

That one is about $400. I'm also looking at a "gaming" laptop with the following:

    Intel Core i7-6700HQ
    15.6" WXGA Wide LED
    1920x1080 Resolution
    GTX 960M Graphics
    8GB DDR3 Memory
    256GB SSD
    802.11ac Wireless
    HDMI / USB3.0 / Bluetooth
    Microsoft Windows 10 HP
    1 y
    ear ASUS warranty

My current laptop has a 500BG drive that's roughly a quarter full, and my FS9 setup and extra files are about 35 GB combined.
