If you have Klaus's USS Fletcher (folder name is USS_DD-445_Fletcher_1950) I have added smoke effect to it. And
is a better looking model. This is compiled for P3Dv4 but might work in FSX....

When you export the mdl make sure it is set to P3Dv4.4 object. No need to set it as FSX as your not using FSX. That is why you are getting the error message.
You don't have the FSXA SDK...

You can use TuFun's rivets and panel line layers on the older models. But you will lose some rivet detail around the rear fuselage. (top and bottom)

If you are using the Mustang tales Geraldine_stock model to use these paints, you need to change the sim and model lines in the cfg.

Ok, I went and tried this out and to be honest it's not worth it. It does work by renaming texture files.
Make a copy of the texture.KN660 folder and rename it to something like this:...
Then I would check the names of the texture files to make sure they match for the newer mdl. If he is using the P3D (PBR) model the texture names are different from the fsx version.

Using older textures will not get you the detailed rivets as the paint needs to be updated by the original author using TuFun's paint kit.

Okay, couple things you need to do before you start editing the effects. Make sure you have the SDK installed for your version of P3D, and then to make sure you have MCX
setup with the right tools...
