Quicksand replied to a thread T-6 Texan in FSX General Discussion
Just picked up Sky Unlimited's pack two.. John, I would love to have your improvements, flight model and texture wise, to these outstanding models... I have all the available Texans, BTW, and they are all very well done... Thankful to all the modellers who make these planes available, be they payware or freeware. :salute::medals::icon29::guinness:

Compression calculations can be tricky until you get used to it. It sounds like you need to raise the nose a bit. That means you need a stronger spring. First, remember that FS begins ALL calculations assuming a full load. Second, the actual contact point position is at the maximum extension. The next thing you need to know is how much travel that the landing gear actually has. So for argument's sake, let's say that the gear has a total travel of one foot. That means you max compression is 1. If you want the plane to sit on the runway with that gear point compressed six inches, that's half of the max, or 0.5 for the "Static Compression." The last step is to calculate the compression ratio. You can either divide 1/.5 or convert to inches and divide 12/6 - either way, 2.0 is your answer. For that same gear to get a stronger spring, you start with decreasing the static compression. Let's say that you want that gear point to sit with only two inches of compression. Since you're dealing in feet, 2 inches out of twelve is (2/12) is 0.17 feet. At this point, it's worth using inches for the ratio. So divide your max compression (12) by your static compression (2), so 12/2=6. FS will then use the static compression and the compression ratio and calculate the correct spring strength. Hopefully everything's as clear as mud now... BTW, which aircraft are you working on?

I was there for a couple of months for FTD back in 1985! Some buddies and I rented a car to look around Ft. Worth. We got lost heading back to base and ended up on the far side of the runway, so I got to see the Peacemaker that was parked there. I also remember seeing the delta-winged F-16 being put through its paces at one point. (Didn't General Dynamics share the runway?)

Here's a file that Jerry Beckwith produced a few years ago. I keep it handy for reference.

When I read the title, I was afraid that you were retiring (again)! Paying for your own domain when there are so many other options just make less sense than it did a decade ago.

Even without adding third party ATC voice mods, there's actually a rather big number of names recognized by FS. If you d/l and install the ATC Voicepack SDK, it includes lists of types, airlines, and models that have been installed by default. Link

The MP3's work fine with IE9. This is something we used to do over at Transload all the time. Dan and I would take turns swapping out music files.

update: getting a curvature/distortion left and right edges of monitor that diminish in flight (or I just get used to it).........landings appear to be faster, visually. Could be my 27" monitor. FPS excellent (30 ++), occasional "stutter" has disappeared.

I'm computer illiterate but I'll do my best: sticker on the side says AMD 6 core 2.8 ghz, 8 gig ram, and 1 gig integrated graphics. I'm running Windows 7.

luckydog started a thread P3D Booster....... in Prepar3D
I was fartin' around tonite in the Pilot Shop ( bored with a little money to burn ) and came across sumthin' called "Xtreme P3D Booster". I'm pretty happy with P3D, but decided to give this "booster" thing a try. HOLY GUACAMOLE !!! I've only flown once with it so far, but my frame rates have at least doubled in all areas. Only an hour on it tonite ( mountains and Vancouver ) so further experimentation is needed............but I am impressed so far. LD

Since all this thread really is, is another "wishlist" thread, let's not bring down any hammers. If somebody else doesn't want a Nemesis NXT in their sim, that won't keep me from wishing for one - even though I already know that the owners of the real company want to put unrealistic restrictions on use and also want some hefty sums of cash from prospective developers. (Hows that for a back-handed way of adding my entry to the wishlist? :icon_lol: )

If you need a full installer, get it from Pete's site: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html Use the simMarket link on his page if you need to register it. If all you need is a new dll, Pete has posted a link to that over at his support forum: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/

And that would be here: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ I just replaced my 3.8.9.0 with this new one and did a quick test by starting up AFCAD while I was parked at KGSO. The red cross-hair appeared in AFCAD as expected. Unless I'm sadly mistaken, he's referring to Pete's homepage: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
