Operation Banquet was a British Second World War plan to use every available aircraft against a German invasion in 1940 or 1941. After the Fall of France in June 1940, the British Government made urgent anti-invasion preparations as the Royal Air Force (RAF) engaged the German Luftwaffe in a struggle for air superiority in the Battle of Britain. In May 1940, the Air Ministry had realised that beyond the normal reserves of the RAF, it may be necessary to throw every serviceable aircraft into the battle. On 17 May, an Air Ministry meeting outlined ambitious plans to make use of various aircraft in the event of an invasion
Banquet Light
Among the Banquet plans was Banquet Light which would see the formation of striking forces composed of De Havilland Tiger Moth biplanes and other light aircraft of Elementary Flying Training Schools.
so here is my WIP of Nigels Avro dressed for action for an operation that as it turned out ; was never needed (although parts of the plan were utilised to mass enough aircraft for the first 1000 bomber raid)

Pete
Nice Pete,
I think most countries did similar things at the start of the war. In my country obsolete bi-plane fighter used as trainers suddenly returned to active duty. Most (private) civil aircraft were confiscated, however not used due to the lack of trained pilots on these aircraft and trained maintenance personnel for these exotic aircraft.
But what didn't happen in the sky was more or less done in a similar way at sea during the evacuation of Dunkirk.

Huub
Dutchman Rudy Burgwal from 322 Dutch squadron was a top scoring pilot against the V-1 flying bombs. He flew with this aircraft on the 8th of July 1944, on which day he downed 5 V-1 of his total 19 "kills".
F/O Burgwal was killed on the 12th of August 1944 when he was hit by flak during an escort mission over France.

Thanks for the kind words Frederic, the AH Spitfire was a pain to paint. I let it rest for a few days, to see whether I'm still satisfied after a few days. Some weathering and shading things I normally do aren't possible due to the texture layout. I have finished 4 liveries, from which mainly the lower surfaces are different.
For there RealAir Spitfire, apart from the registration codes and switching on and off the right layers, there isn't much I did on this repaint. It is mainly the RealAir paintkit they released for the FSX model.
322 Dutch squadron flew the mighty Mk.XIV Spitfire only for a short period. The Mk.XIV arrived in March 1944 to replace the Mk.Vb Spitfire. And by August the XIV Spitfires were already handed in again, to be replaced with the Mk.XVI Spitfire (The Mk.IX Spitfire with the American Packard engines). From August 1944, 322 Squadron was mainly involved in ground attack missions and most losses were caused by ground fire.
F/O Burgwal was shot over Le Genest-Saint Isle, Mayenne, France after escorting Lancasters on a mission on Orleans. F/O Rudolph Frans Burgwal was initially buried at the Saint-Isle Communal Cemetery, but was reburied on the Dutch field of honour in Orry-La Ville near Senlis.
I have reinstalled the V1 bombs AI traffic by Michel "Michaelblackbird" Merle to give me something to chase in the sim!

Hey Huub, y'know Daniel Dunn made a flyable V1?

Pete
Pete,
The one in the screenshot is the one done by Samantha Downes from TLUK design, which I think is the same you are referring to. It is used as AI in Michel Merle's AI traffic.
For a moment I though you were referring to a Fieseler Fi103R Reichenberg, but I don't think this was ever done for FS2004.
Cheers,
Huub
So nice stuff there guys
The V1 is small, but once spotted the speed of the Spitfire is superior.
This is not as simple as it looks!

Hey huub, been meaning to ask, what cloud set are you using there?

Pete
Morning Pete,
As I mentioned before I have been fiddling with my install to much to remember what I exactly did, but I'm pretty sure the clouds are from the "High Definition Environment V2.0" package by Pablo Diaz. This package is available at Flightsim.com (hdev2.zip).
Cheers,

Sean,
Check out this thread and the video in it: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...nearly-perfect
And I do have a high end computer, so FS2004 can be run with all sliders at full !
Found it Pete! Thanks! Great stuff

Why I keep FS2004 operational.
Nothing quite like some Phantom Phlying to put a smile on one's face!

Man, Wombat, those shots almost got me to reinstall FS9! And quite frankly, the thought of being able to fly the Cloud9 Phantom again makes me drool!
Are you using shaders of any kind?
Cheers,

No shaders that I recall Jan, but I do have a very mixed selection of clouds, weather, lighting and environmental additions.

Well said and don't overlook FSUIPC weather parameters with regards to sky & clouds....I believe Full environment 9 (could also be Envtex) from Toga Projects has suggested parameters for FSUIPC in addition to suggested FS9.cfg parameters - play with those...it might make a difference!
Not only aircraft in this Flightsimulator.......
