    VLSO question....

I have been doing some carrier traps today, and using the program VLSO. It's been a while since using it, but am noticing a lack of voice recordings that normally accompany it.

Specifically, when on approach the LSO voice usually says, "Call the Ball", and shortly afterward, the simulated pilot voice will say, "Roger Ball", and other callouts, usually about altitude and speed corrections. Then, after trapping, the LSO voice will do a quick debrief of the trap.

None of that is playing now. The only voice recording I hear is "Wave off, wave off" if my approach is not correct (which it isn't almost 100 percent of the time!).

Anyone use VLSO that could help me figure out why these voice recordings are missing? Thanks. NC

NC, which version of the beta are you using? If I seem to not get sounds, a restart has in the past fixed the issue. I also make sure manual ball call is unchecked.

Thanks for your reply, Victory. I am using the latest version. I had tried all the suggestions you made, but no change.

The only callouts I hear are "Wave off, wave off"; that is all. In the Sound folder that comes with the software itself, there are, as you know, quite a lot of callouts. There must be something not set right or maybe a conflict with some other addon within FSX? I heard from someone else who is experiencing the same problems.

Is rhe FSDreamteam site the place to post questions about VLSO? I noticed there isn't a lot of activity on the VLSO blogspot site. NC

Hi Navy Chief,if you look on the vlso display there is a button on there called Zip,turn it off,I also noticed the lack of voices, and turning that button off brought the missing voices back.

I will check on that, thanks! NC

Check that you have auto call ball on, or that you're actually calling the ball manually. Otherwise, the program thinks you haven't called the ball and therefore waves you off. Took me a bit to figure this out. You should be able to look at your pass in the program, and you probably won't see a ball call.

Fantastic program, anyone that's remotely interested in carrier aviation should try it.

Well, both suggestions had no effect. I have tried turning off the "Zip" button, and on as well. Plus selecting "Ball", and deselecting it.

    No change.

The only callout I am getting is "Wave off, wave off"......... NC

Well, I made some progress today.

I selected "COM1" vs the Auto COM setting, along with making sure Ball and Zip were not selected. Callouts worked!

This software is, I think, a must for anyone who likes to do carrier ops. It really adds realism to the simulation!!! NC GO NAVAIR.

These are not from my ops this evening; just examples of the software screens.......
