    Majestic class CVL, updated

Majestic class angledeck CVL, version 4, updating the catalog... Attachment 31329
    Attachment 31327
A minor refit before major dockyard period next year...
Some hull rework, roughly to Bonnie's fit, now full hull.
Armament shipped-3"50cal twinmounts, new mirror landing sights.
Animated surface and air search radar, new ships crane and boats.
Texture mapped around Jens Ole's great Bonnie and Melbourne tex's, with reduced drawcalls.
This edition replaces the beta version, the deck park's are unchanged,
as are effects for effects version, position and titles are unchanged.
major OH in hand for the specific versions...
Big thanks to Jens, without whose paints the ship would be pretty crappy, and the FS community
for putting up with this dreck...but the price is right, and its the only ballgame in town, for now.
Its been in sim long enough to verify it works, frames good, no crashbox.
Still fiddling with things, about the third pass through the compiler, not overly happy with the smoothing groups, but a bit better than the earlier effort.

Yup, just toss the old mdl file. None of the titles have changed, and it works with the deck clutter models in the original file. The guide number of the model is different, though. I don't think that will affect traffic BGL's , I think...

Indeed a very great start on a Sunday morning! Thanks Lazarus!

    I'm downloading now.

As you might remember Lazarus, I did a complete set of textures covering the entire Melbourne service life with the different deck layout and paint schemes:
    -1950-60
    -1977
    -1980

I also did the Vikrant in its mid life combo Sea Harrier/ Sea hawk deck layout.

It would probably make the life easier for our fellow simmers if it was possible to include all the schemes in one package!

    Best regards

First impression is great after giving it a quick test. The ship is starting to come to life!

Just one question: Have you changed the length of the catapult track? All the aircraft I tested attached way back the main gear hold back rollers, almost over the forward deck lift. I might look like the catapult track has been made 2-4 meters to long compared to the previous versions of the ship? I believe the deck layout I have painted is pretty close to the real deal.

    Best regards

    Another quick note..

Should you want to put all 3 carriers in a formation, make sure you delete (or rename) the texture.cfg file in each paint otherwise Majestic will show in all 3 positions. Also note the white ensign is present in all 3 ships. Looks odd but correct depending on the era.

Just practiced some bolters with my favourite FAA kerosene guzzler and noise generator (Sea Vixen) and she is very very nice! Thanks Lazarus for doing this.

Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

Cheers, thanks all, a pleasure. Thanks again for putting up with the junk.
Jens, I can't for the life of me recall all those textures, but it's been a frenetic phreak-out for a while, lost in the horrible racket that attends the progress of the great machine, I suppose. No fear, we'll pull it all together for the next general release, once it's out of this extended beta phase, and into the specific ships-the long neglected Karel, Cees. Even Vikrant, though I'm at a loss for a way to simulated the near non-stop dockyard fires and other more or less amusing clusterufcks that seem such a part of INS naval doctrine
I'm looking at that hull, thinking re-hack first. Proficiency drills first, and at least get the other old crap up to speed.
Attachment 31376 like this old clanger. Whacked a new hull under it, much better, better, in fact than the chumbly trying to flog a cad model for $800 clams, though it had so-so photo textures, the shape was wrong-no flare or dead rise forward, straight deck edges. 800 bucks. How do I get in on that gravy train?
