John Phillip Bartle Australian Ace, 112 Sqn. RAF, El Adem - Egypt, October 1941. 6,5 victories He went on to become CO of 450 Sqdn 1942-11-02 served with 112 Sqdn RAF, under RAF control; he survived being shot down in Kittyhawk Mk I, AK632 on 13/3/42.
He often flew AN413, K, as did Sgt W E Carson (12/10/41) and P/O R D J Jeffries, it was coded 'K' and had 'Nan' in outline under the cockpit and forward of that a Kangaroo also in outline while with 112 Sqn., AN413 ,K went missing in action while being piloted by P/O R J D Jeffries, killed in action.(12/12//41).
Huub, have you uploaded that paint job here?
Not yet, but I will upload it later today. But you wonder how the aircraft really looked.
Profile 1, without the kangaroo and the word NAN
Profile 2, without kangaroo but with the word NAN
Profile 3. with the kangaroo and the word NAN, but with a sharkmouth with small teeth....
Well at least one aircraft had a kangaroo and the word NAN painted on it.....
And at least one aircraft had somewhat larger teeth...
So perhaps not fully authentic, but hopefully a repaint to enjoy.... As the aircraft was originally delivered in the Dupont colours and scheme I kept the Dupont scheme and repainted the Dupont No 71-013 standard RAF Mid stone and the lower surfaces Azure Blue.
Cheers,
Huub
Edit: The textures should be available now.
Work in progress. Still very clean...... It won't be ready before next year.......
The Kittyhawk Mk.1A EV421, from No.2 Sq. SAAF, flown Maj D.B. Hauptfleisch, spring 1942. I did it so I had something to fly from Ian's RAF Gambut, although I think 2nd squadron SAAF was never stationed there.
It is the IRIS model with the de-shined model file by Wild Bill Kelso. This repaint is based on the better than excellent paintkit by Steve "Duckie"Bryant.
Cheers,
Huub
I think it is finished....
Hopefully I will be able to upload the textures tomorrow.
Cheers,
Huub
This repaint is now available in the library. There is something strange with this aircraft as it seems it first had an early Mk.Ia tail, without the fillet. Therefore it id unclear whether the aircraft was a modified Mk.Ia or a genuine Mk.III.
There is also some confusion about the colours of Africa. Most sources say it was red with a white halo. But there are also sources which say it was green with a yellow halo. Which makes sense when you are a fan of the springbok rugby team. As the majority sticks with red, I decided to go for red as well.
I advise everybody to go for the "de-shined" model by Wild Bill Kelso, as it makes the model look far more realistic.
As usual the research was the best part of the repaint!
I think Peperez did a CFS2 conversion of this model, which is why I did the textures in dtx3 format, so they are compatible with CFS2.
Cheers,
Huub
Stuart Greens Betty flying over the area the main airfields in Rabaul should be. A rather odd looking aircraft the Betty, but im warming to it, and with some great repaints by UncleTgt, good for patrolling the Solomans
What land class are you using there Ian? Mine (GW3) has a totally different look.

Thanks Ian. LC for FS2004 is different from that in GW3.

Curious, that's how it looks like in my Golden Wings with Rumba's DEM8 meshs:
Not so different from what Ian shows us above.

Here's how Rabaul looks in my GW3.

It doesn' look bad. At least less urbanized than mine. Have you tried to add Rhumbaflappy's meshs? That would enhance your environment. Look at DEM8 here:
