    FSX warships uploaded

    I've been packing and uploading since this morning, with a few hours yet to go ( thank you in advance, Rami!)
    Its been a long, ongoing program, and its time to get this barge in the water!
    I also promised Firekitten Cruisers, and I`ve been slow.
    So, with the gracious permission of Colin Glendinning, Mark Walsh and SOH`s Virtual Navy.

    and also HMAS Sydney (CVL), but I lost the JPEG!
    Note-Coral Sea and Prince of Wales fully acceleration enabled. all the wires, cats, FLOLS coded in and A-OK
    I even managed to remove the barricade from the Colossus`deck and preserve the animations on the Essex`s that had them
    Coral Sea could use a texture overhaul, but shes all good to go and all the ships look and run well!

    I`m still uploading as I type (21:16 PDT) but the files should be up by morning. With luck, everything should run OK, if not, we will use
    this thread for reporting point!

    Colin, Lindsay, Jim, Bruce and Usio deserve the thanks here, I`m just doing the monkey work. For purely shellfish reasons...
    There is such an enormous library of really amazing ship models for CFS2, it would be a shame to see that work disappear in format and OS changes as the years go by, and it meshes nicely with so many other scenery projects. The down side is , I`m going to be weeks uploading, and Rami is gonna hate me!

    Great! Thanks. Been doing some circuits and bumps on the O Boat. However the Coral Sea would not show up.

    Hi everybody!

    Tom, thank you for the Sticky, BTY. An honour!
    Semms like its going OK. The big nightmare is leaving out a effect or texture file, but so far, so good I hope.

    Fliger, I combed through the uploaded Coral Sea, and every thing looks orderly there. If the AICarriers selection is not triggering a crash-to-desktop ( which is caused by a corrupt MDL file, mis- named model, or a bad entry in the model config) and is giving an error warning : fail to create object blah blah,blah , this is always a sim config issue, or AICarriers config issue. The sim config looks OK, so check for an unwanted space between '=' sign and the title, or between the end of the ship title and the coma before the position data.
    You should see this:
    [formation.xx]
    title=USS_CV-43_Coral_Sea_TG

    unit.0=USS_CV-43_Coral_Sea,0,0
    unit.1=USS_DD724_Laffey,-600,-600
    unit.2=VN_Gearing_DD_FRAM_I_FSX,450,1200

    not any extra spaces, like this

    [formation.xx]
    title=USS_CV-43_Coral_Sea_TG

    unit.0= USS_CV-43_Coral_Sea ,0,0
    unit.1= USS_DD724_Laffey ,-600,-600
    unit.2= VN_Gearing_DD_FRAM_I_FSX,450,1200

    I downloaded and ran the model, the model file does not seem to be corrupt, which would cause CTD anyway, so look at syntax and punctuation, and let us know how it goes please. Hope that's some help.

    Back on line after some hardware glitches-the wire banditos scored themselves some fiber optic cable and blacked out the neighborhood!
    Another batch tonight- mostly battleships, but 2 carriers!

    Thanks for the reply, will work with it some more. What I got was not a CTD but an error, model failed to create or some such. I re downloaded but that did not fix the issue. Will carefully check the AI Carriers cfg for syntax etc.

    Having fun with the O boat, which I actually spent some time on underway. Doing bumps and circuits with the F9F-5, which also I am experimenting with various factors to reduce the plunge and yaw on arrestment.

    Thanks all. I'm blushing! So far, so good. hope every one is having fun.
    I've been sidetracked on an update for Mark's Queen Elizabeth class CVF's. Stupid me, I managed to ignore the fact that the CVF models have bridge windows and interiors! A bad assumption based on the Bay class, GCS and Visby, which have the windows 'painted on ' the texture sheets. Now, does any one have any information about the glass coloration/tint on the CVF's. Is it a grey or blue or green tint/safety glass, or a gold Low Observable coating or ??? And does any one have any ideas about crash box granularity; vis a viz getting rid of the deck crash at the top of QE's skijump ramp. I have trie a number of granularity settings ( .025. 050 , 1, 20, 50 ect) which varies the size or the crash box, moved the model aft on the Y axis to keep the bows closer to the center point, and no love. I can live with it if I have to, but would like to get rid of that smoke and sparks. Annoying. Unsightly.

    Thanks lazarus for all the work you did to get these ships converted for fsx. :salute:
    Like fliger, I get the error "model failed to create" with Yamato and Kongo. I have tried to rename
    model files, both cfg files(model and sim) and root folders. Also making sure my AIcarriers cfg names
    match, but none seem to work. I did check the mdl's with MDLview and all show up in the app. Another
    thing i did was to see if it was texture file that maybe causing the problem. I did have to convert the
    Yamato texture's from bmp's to dds, but that does not seem to be the problem as i get the same error
    message. I am wondering if anybody else is having same problem? Have not tried Coral Sea as of yet,
    more into the WW2 ships. But will to see if I get the same error. Hope we can figure out why they will
    not show as they are some great models.
