    Avro Manchester MkI Late......

    Hi Folks,

A fully updated model for CFS2 from Ted Cook's Fs9 original model. Life got in the way, so took longer than intended to......., so here it is. Please see the README for details.

There are two main models, one with bombs and one without. There is also a low poly model made by myself, for those large formations. And two new Brit bombs, a 4000lb HC cookie and a 1000lb bombs.

    Cheers,
    Shessi

    Avro Manchester MkI Late CFS2.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - British

Description: An CFS2 Avro Manchester MkI Late version update of Ted Cooks original model by Shessi April 2013

The Avro Type679 Manchester MkI was a twin engined heavy bomber for the RAF, developed in the 1930s. It came into service in 1941, but was soon found that the Rolls-Royce Vulture engines were under developed and prone to overheating. This caused a lot of losses of crew and aircraft, and limited the operational height of the Manchester squadrons, but help prove the need for fast heavy bombers. It was in service from Feb 1941 to mid 1942, and paved the way for the excellent Avro Lancaster.
This aircraft is OL-Q, serial No.L7427 of 97 Sqn June 1941, then became OL-J with 83 Sqn, and went missing on a mission on the 8/9th Apr 1942.

    Updates include:-
    1) Late version MkI, with mid-upper turret.
    2) Multi-LOD ac for FS9 and CFS2.
    3) New bomb-bay and bomb load 1x400lb cookie and 6x1000lb British bombs.
    4) Guns in a more alert ready position.
    5) New crew.
    6) New skin texture for her.
    7) New spinning prop and tex (choice of prop texs).
    8) New glass spec.
    9) CFS2 version has version with and without bomb load, new DP, new 4000lb cookie and 1000lb Brit bomb weapons made, which can be used in other aircraft.
    10) CFS2 version has wheel retraction tweaked to stop them showing through wings tops when retracted.
    11) A very low poly CFS2 ai version made for large bomber raids.
    12) Tweaks to the airfile and ac.cfg for closer to real performance.
    13) New 2D cockpit/panel made from JF's Lanc.
    14) Non-moving, but correctly positioned controls in CFS2 version.
    15) Control yolks now in VC view (moving in FS9 version)
    16) The dreaded g_light_states and crash detection CFS2 problem removed.
    17) Props now not permenantly feathered.

Thanks a lot Shessi. Nice airplane to take for a raid over the Kammhübber line. As long as we are only flying in a sim!

    Manchester

    Thanks Shessi!

I'm glad those Rolls Royce Vulture engines are more reliable in CFS 2 than they were over Germany!

    Thanks

    Thanks for this, Sheshi.
Am downloading now and will fly it shortly.

    Nick

BTW, have you looked at the Birtisim site? Many nice a/c and some rare birds, like Austers etc, and some may be convertible to CFS2.
If you fly the later sims, they have treasures.

I solved the problem with its not appearing... used the AirEd program... I don't know whether it is my computer or what... but in a few installations.. I get that message that the air file is not valid...

At any rate... a wonderful model...

I permitted myself to do a few things with the texture as to render even more (I think) attractive... like adding individually textured shines, rivets, etc. and especially, detailing the wheels and tires, etc.

Still a bit of a WIP on the texture enhancements... If you are interested, I can let you have them when I am done... just drop me a PM.

    Again... kudos!:salute::salute:

    Great Looking Plane

    Hi Shessi,

What a great looking aeroplane. :salute:

Thanks chaps, glad you like it.

    Gaucho,
    Fill yer boots!

The tex maping for the bomb bay doors are the underside of the wing, there is no tex for the edges or inside (these would have been relatively clean anyway).

    Cheers

A Manchester carrying an 8000lb bombload? That'd be a pig to get 'unstuck'!

  16. #16
    Yes, and that's with de-rated engines from 1750hpto 1500hp!

But imagine a Lanc (all be it lightened) with a 22,000lb load.....

    Cheers
