    4Gb patch.

I found this little tool while searching for ways to make my GTR2 racesim more stable on my Win7 64bit system, but I've applied it to FsX too and I seem to get a beter and more stable framerate with it.
If you try it, don't forget to backup your FsX.exe file first!

What it does is it enables old 32-bit executables which are limited to using 2Gb of RAM on a 64-bit system, to use 4Gb RAM.

Edit: Of course this might also work for Fs9, CFS2&3 etc. etc!

I tried to use it for FSX, but got the error message "couldn't open executable". I haven't run FSX today, so I see no reason why the executable could not be opened. Any pointer would be highly appreciated!

Maybe it's set to 'read only'?

    Thanks for replying!

Just checked, and no, sorry, it is not set to read only. In the security tab of the file properties I also made sure that I have full rights. I am admin of my machine and UAC is turned off. A bit baffled here.

I'm going to reboot and try to run it in safe mode.

I have another question though: does the patcher need to be in the same directory as the executable one would want to patch?

EDIT: I also gave myself full rights to the fsx folder. This is going to take some time! LOL!!!

No, I just ran it directly from the zip file, selected FsX.exe and that was all.

If you have FSX SP2 or Acceleration, the 4GB switch is already "on".
Unless you have FSX v1 or SP1 only, any improvement will, I am afraid,
    be imaginary.
Even with the two earlier versions, the only improvement would be a delay
    in reaching the OOM error.
    Sorry.

And I'm afraid it doesn't work on the CFS3.exe either.

What magic have you worked Ferry to make this thing patch?!
