Yes, enjoying the paints done and posted here - many thanks. Looking forward to some fancy VIP/private paints for the GEX.

Fooling around with some freeware spare parts picked up at some garage sales for the GEX flight deck:

With 5200+ photos on Airliners.net alone it's certainly a target-rich environment for painters.

I find most corp. paint schemes boring (and they are intentionally so) but there are some interesting ones...
    • Niki Lauda (OE-III) and Caterham (9M-CJG) for the racing fans
    • Pepsico and Kohler - not bland and Kohler's is perhaps one of the best ( it's even advertising)
    • N117TF that looks like a 70's airbrushed boogie van!
    • 9H-FED that's rather plain except for the history (reportedly "detained upon arrival on the Spanish island Gran Canaria (GCLP) by Interpol agents with over 1400 kilos of very pure cocaine hidden onboard.")
    • JCAB (Japanese Civil Aviation Board) Flight Check aircraft
    • OE-LGX - I'm still trying to decipher the graphic on the tail

One of the nice things is that many of the schemes have the wings painted as part of the design. I know it might be a pain, but think of it as another showcase for talent

Expat, you going to share the 'parts list' when you get it all wired up?

Expat, what gauges are you using please and can you share the panel config or details. That is neat.

What if United scheme I have used on some of my other tubes. Looks nice on the CRJ. I'll tidy up the skin and load it.
Just such a darned pretty shot I had to post.

Of course I am more than happy to share the panel mods. Beware though this is big on eye candy, and short on function. PMDG and iFly fans might be disappointed!

Attached is the whole panel - WARNING: it has the MS default 737-800.cab and also 2d bmp's - by necessity as the mod that makes the nice moving map was uploaded inside this by someone at simviation, whose name I don't recall. Search there or elsewhere for a 737 panel mod with "trinkets" and you will find it along with instructions how to toggle the terrain view to show up in the MFD in the VC.

Humblest apologies to the other third party freeware authors whose names I can't recall to give credit to (including but not limited to the nice looking EMB PFD). I can't get the HUD to work for some reason but don't really use it. You will no doubt notice I have spliced in the default 737 2D panel which I use as kind of an non-overhead popup but is also necessary to toggle the terrain view in the VC MFD.

To get the lighting I also used a third party nightmap texture (again, thanks) that goes in each repaint texture. (attached). Lastly, I have modded the air.cfg to toggle some suble extra vc lighting via a smokesystem entry. Toggle the "I" key to turn it on and off. There is something quirky with these defaults such that if you add a normal vc light it is way to bright at night, but without it too dark during the day. Adds a nice effect to the mix.

    [SMOKESYSTEM]
    smoke.0 = -9.73, -1.65, 4.28, fx_vclightGreH //Add vc lights for day use
    smoke.1 = -9.73, -1.65, 4.28, fx_vclightGreH //Add vc lights for day use

Any questions please let me know!

Does anyone know if a 5 (Army Co-Operation) Squadron RAF paint has been made yet?

b/t/w - I also merged into the mix an FDE and air.cfg that comes with a freeware FSX Global Express XRS that you can find on flightsim, etc. The IRIS files are based on the CRJ whereas this other one has more correct looking specs re MTOW, fuel and PAX load etc for the long range GEX bus jet. You only need to transfer over the contact points and repaint entries from the IRISH air.cfg (there are no light effects in the air.cfg - they are all in the model). Don't much time on this build but seems to work ok.

Two repaints are ready for download, both fictional and using the updated paintkit from IRIS.

    Iris easter eggs, can´t fly

    Hi !

After I install the Iris easter eggs 2013, I´m not able to fly the aircrafts. When I click 'Fly now' I have a error messenge 'Visual model could not be displayed:FSX blank'.

I copy the panelfolder from CRJ-700 default aircraft to all of the easter eggs 2013 planes.

My op system is Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit, i72006K GTX560 Ti 2GB Top Corsair HX750w.

    Include a screenshoot.

    Best Regard

I also had issues getting these aircraft to load and display initially. It might be you have not followed all the usual steps to merge another vc into a different native FSX model.

    Here is a basic tutorial:
    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=17996209

Have you copied the interior= CRJ_700 etc from the default CRJ model folder into the IRIS model folder?

Have you also copied all the CRJ VC dds textures into the IRIS repaint folder(s)?

I downloaded these aircraft on 6th April, by which time the interior model, panel and sound had been aliased to the
    default Bombardier_CRJ_700.

For the Easter Eggs to work, you need to have a completely standard Bombardier_CRJ_700 folder in exactly the right place and in which nothing except repaints has been amended.

As yours don't and you have already messed with the Easter Egg files, I would recommend that you download them again,
delete the four folders that you have interfered with and then re-install,making absolutely sure that your Bombardier_CRJ_700 folder
is correctly located, correctly named and contains the correct model, panel and sound files.

If you do this, the Easter Eggs will work.
You do NOT need to copy any files or folders.

A very small number of the people who chose to download the empty L1011 shell from CS, which is aliased in exactly the same way to the default Airbus_A321, are experiencing exactly the same problem and for the same reasons.

As a matter of interest, if I remove the interior model from the Bombardier_CRJ_700\model folder, I see the same message, of course, but when I click
on OK, the aircraft shell still loads but with no interior model.

    Regards,
    Nick.

Icon5 Install IRIS easter eggs 2013

    Hello Nick!

    Thank for your advice.

It whas my mistake, I change the name of the default CRJ-700 folder to 'Bombardier CRJ-700_MS', no wonder that the Iris version can´t find the default CRJ-700.

I´m change back the name to ´Bombardier_CRJ_700, and install the easter eggs 2013. Now is working all OK.

Your ia All Swell fellows here at SOH

Lol, worse by the hour. Looking great so far! Your first person to show any progress, nice to see. Would be even better to see a paint kit from IRIS

  21. #96
If you look in the IRIS folder that the self installer adds to your FSX folder,
your wish to see a paintkit will be granted.

I am having similar issues. While I am not a painter I like to make some simple generic/private versions of others paints with MS Paint and dxtbmp but I am having trouble with stripe alignment over the door and hatch and some other problems.

Wish someone would do some paints like these ones:

For the amateur painter like me, I recommend Paint.Net over MsPaint.
It's free and will do much much more.

Not quite the same I'm affraid, the XRS has a nice layered paintkit with everything needed to make things easy where as the CRJ-200 paintkit is just wire

The paintkit with layers is for "repainters". The one with only wireframes is what we "painters" start with.
Sometimes you have to build the kit yourself. But that is part of the fun and the potential repaints when it is ready, is the motivation.
