    Flysimware Cessna 195

As the Flysimware Cessna 195 is on sale (until midnight) at: http://www.pcaviator.com/store/produ...roductid=19474 I decided to take a chance and buy. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised as their screenshots leave a little to be desired. The aircraft model is heavily shined and there are no darkened alphas in all the texture files I looked at. I wanted the glass to be a little darker so I basically darkened the "Windows" image texture file to get the desired effect. In the vc shot you will see a gauge holder with the light blue FsX showing behind. This tells us that there is some non-Dx10 material there, or maybe it's an untextured part?

Could it be just a missing gauge?

Could be. I'll check their vc shots again...then maybe a reinstall.

Yep, it's a digital gauge that's missing Roger. Seen it before on other airplanes, just can't remember the name right off.:salute:

Yep I saw the gauge in one of their shots. Looks like it's non-Dx10 material as a reinstall made no difference.

Good that your gauge turned up, Roger - now please tell us how it flies!

Well it flies like a cessna with a big radial up front.

IMHO it has the handling characteristics of a blimp. It doesn't turn sharply and sometimes forgets that it has a rudder. It's a challenge to land, for me, with some wind gusts pushing you around.

Here's a couple of live action models from Thomasville GA yesterday....I did a pass on buying this sim model although I considered it for some time.

I was on the ramp when 895A took off....the sound was wonderful!

Well dang TeaSea. I've flown down to the Thomasville fly-in for the past three years but, opted not to go this year. Wish I had known another Outhouse member was going to be there. I would have made different plans and went.

For the chrome version I'm going to try darkening the image (not the alpha channel) to see if I can get the red paint a little less thin.

I'm curious whether anyone else has found this model to be a bit of a system hog? It's unflyable on my PC, with FPS only rarely hitting very jerky double figures. I swap to the Accusim P-51 and immediately I'm back to a nice smooth 20-30. Back to the Cessna, and back to single figures. I know a quad core Phenom 2.3 and 9800GT isn't even mid range these days, but I didn't think I'd have any trouble with this.

I noticed I wasn't getting the best fps but it's flyable at 20+ in most rural areas.

Well, my plans were off and on again several times. I had wanted to go up Friday and camp under the wing, but then my wife said she was going to go....she does not camp......except in a Hotel.

We ended up going up and back the same day....which was a long trip from the Tampa area in my little Archer.

Roger, here's the same paint scheme on a Cessna 170. Sorry, I didn't get another shot of the 195. I followed NC4252V in the pattern. There were about 6 of us on downwind all at the same time. A little crowded but everyone kept is safe.

Sorry, put this image in twice and can't figure out how to delete it.....
