A crying shame, I hope a solution can be found.

One thing confuses me; why/how is a Dutch museum applying for Chapter 11 protection, isn't that American legislation?

Well, if we told that the museum asked for Uitstel van betaling and then went failliet I doubt anyone would know what we are talking about.. 'Chapter 11' is probably the best way to descibe what happened in a way most here can understand.

Thanks for clearing that up. I blame the Night Nurse for my brain not working today.

I will happily do the oldfashionate thing and just once dedicate a tenth of my monthly income to this cause. It is such a cool place and it just sucks if it would never open again. I love the place and it's even better when you combine it with a flight in one of the old planes like the S.11 I am already a member of the DDA and I will happily become a member of any new foundation as well just to support this museum.

You can always become a member of the 'Vriendenkring Aviodrome". As stated earlier, they are a seperate foundation, so they are not threatened by the bankrupcy ofthe museum itself.

    The Aviodrome is saved!!

    The Aviodrome is saved!!

The complete collection will stay in tact. The DC2 and Constellation were taken over by KLM, Schiphol and the local town, Lelystad. They will remain in the collection as well. This was a precaution, so in case of an auction these priceless planes would be saved for the Netherlands.

There will be some changes, planes will be made more accessable, and there will be a spotters terrace at the winglevel of the boing 747, so visitors have a great view of the park and the plane tracffic on Lelystad Airport.

    It will reopen April 28.

    Cheers, Rob
