    Graphics issue

While testing visuals for textures, I was all of a sudden heading towards the abyss. Graphics driver errors. Then they reset. I refreshed FSX and continued. All of a sudden, spikes everywhere. No dust in the card.

I wonder of the card itself is the problem, or the driver set?

I had nothing but problems with the 285.62 drivers with my card (EVGA GTX460). A lot of people have had the same problems with this set of drivers,
there is a big thread about them over a guru3d. I'm running the 290.36 beta drivers now and no problems at all.

Thanks. I'm in the process of downloading all the previous (and newer) drivers. I never had any issues like this before updating to the version I have. So I'm, at a minimum reverting back one WHQL version. It's a process of elimination.

Have you used or added the d3d9 antilag frame limiter recently?
Just spent a solid week trying to fix what I thought were driver issues only to find
out through much trial and error that the frame limiter had suddenly stopped working.
I was having the all same issues plus blurry in game menus and invisible planes.

To the both of you, thanks for a response to my problem. After posting my symptom I began to think back about what had changed for this to happen. I had been running the 285.62 drivers for a few weeks without any trouble. Then all of a sudden this started. Well, about 2-3 weeks ago, I bought a new Samsung SA550 LED monitor. What a sight it is to have a bigger screen. Shortly after, say a week of using the monitor, I heard of a program Samsung had released that allowed you to change the monitor settings via an application, rather than the cumbersome controls directly on the monitor. Sounds good to me. A few clicks and forget it. I downloaded the program. It's called "MagicTune", and installed it. It worked great for it's intended use. Nice!

Then I started tweaking my FSX graphics via the default control panel within nVidia. All was working real nicely. Well, there's an option inside "MagicTune", called "MagicAngle". This feature allowed you to change from different presets (viewing angles) based on where your line of sight is in relation to the monitor. My monitors center point in slightly above my eyes. So, I set the "MagicAngle" to the best preset. It seemed to work well.

Shortly (a few days later) after I started noticing a wave effect on my screen. It appeared as if water was flowing over the face of the monitor. And, this was happening only while flying in FSX. Everything else there was nothing noticeable.

For the sake of saying I tried everything, I uninstalled "MagicTune". And, I uninstalled the trouble of the graphics abyss with it. Everything is working perfectly again.

I'm still using the same drivers.

That's good to know you got it figured out. I thought for sure it was driver related.
