That is looking very nice; great work so far. I would like the end result to be monotone I think.Of course, anything that is not "engine" should be black. When you put these textures inside a cowling, the outside edges are typically shadowed (as they are up in the cowl) and the overall texture is dark. as it gets little sunlight. The main objective for me would be "make it subtle", not jumping out of the engine cowl. Great work!

EDIT: Here are two examples I used for the A26B that shows my preference. Of course, as the artist, you have the license.

Alright, that gives me more info. So, you want it toned down. Subdued blackish? And all but the cylinder heads, pushrods, face. Is this correct? Oh, the white you see, is my way of lining things up (visual reference) in circumference

Swap you the sounds for a Stearman for a ride...??? (icon:ddown on his knees grovelling pathetically:icon)

If so the Continental R-670 is almost a twin of the Avia.

I'd say go for it and let Milton choose.

Glad I have you for a buddy pete!

edit: "Now let me see, where the heck did I put that brochure on touring New Zealand?"...

    Hi ya Nigel,

Generally yes. You do not have to lose detail, just subdue it. :-;EDIT: Here is a good shot of the engines in this aircraft.

Avia 156 Aircraft 3D Artist Needed

By the way, on page 6 of this thread I mentioned that the Avia 156 is ready for the paint shop.

Matt "Smoothie" Wynn was going to do this but lost his computer.

If anyone wants to give this aircraft a shot (you are great with bare metal textures) bare metal on the fuselage, and various materials elsewhere,
    give me a shout.

Cockpit and panel is to be done, sounds in progress, FM in progress.

But, the exterior is ready, and she flies.

Anyone wish to volunteer for the panel and gauge work (original era correct gauges and/or default MS era correct), shoot me a PM.
Looking for experienced panel gauge work, not hodge-podge.

Test subjects-engine sent. Milton, Sir, check personal messages.

As for the repainting, I would love to help in this area. One BIG problem. I no longer have FS9 installed

Ah, forgive me. Just awoke from a head-cold recovery nap.

Oh yes, love the monochrome version (v2). Now that is awesome work there Sir!

LOL Thanks a bunch for all the effort :-)

Great, love to have you get your paws on the 156. Will send it shortly.

    Thanks so much.

I have had a cocktail, although I don't think I'm too inebriated to question this. Milton, you better get some coffee and re-read my post. I don't have FS9 installed

Bah, I do not see that as an issue. I do have it, and FSX so I can help there.

    Engine RW vs Sim Comparison

    Oleboy,

Okay, dinner is done and I got your texture in the model.

Here is the comparison. Notice how I seem to have lights inside the cowlings.
Lighthing angle is about the same with both pictures.
It would be great to darken the outer 4-6" and maybe also the overall texture.

    What do you think?

Milton, concerning the engine texture, it does look too light doesn't it. I can darken things up a bit more around the outer, and take care of the shiny bits to tone it down. Considering the original photo is the real thing, and black and white, I would sure like to see a bigger size photos of each (RW & model) so I have something to focus my eyes on for better comparison. Least a bigger shot of the model in-sim.

No problem. I will send you some larger pics.

BTW, you can drop the Avia 156 right into FSX. Just did that myself and here are some shots.

Milton, by now you should have some fresh pics of a Continental R-670 in your mailbox.
