Another masterpiece in the making. . .no doubt Matt. You may already be aware of this, but I happened on it because of the livery I decided to do. On this one, the cowl door has to be integrated into the graphics, where on most of the others it's a polished aluminum. I discovered that in order to match it (as shown in the second pic) the art has to be squeezed up a bit so that when it stretches back out in the sim, it looks correct. Even after I got it where I wanted it, it still looks off because the door and the fuselage are not on the same plane. That door is indented some and it makes the graphics look like it isn't lined up correctly. Gave me fits trying to line it up, but it's close enough that I'm happy with it. Just thought I'd post these as a HU for you or anyone else that might try a livery that has graphics in that area.

I'm still doing bits on it, got the wings about done. There is also a bit of texture pull on the top and bottom of the cowl arear. i'm redoing rivets and stuff on the fuselage and will see if I can tidy them up a bit. I have DDR, Poland, Egyptian and Czech planned so far.

The repaints look great! Will have to grab them and give them an official OBIO Crash Test.

Am I the only one who flies this bird with the cowl flaps open to see the engine?

Beautiful work, as always! Glad to see it's getting a lot of paints. I think I'll add to my Soviet collection with SteveB's paints.

Only one small suggestion, on 1960 Soviet livery, DOSAAF should be with two "A"

This looks like a really beautiful brute.

The real aircraft sounds awesome. What are you fellas doing for sound on this bird?

Have you listened to the sounds that came with it? I don't know if they're accurate but I don't really care cause they sound great.

Nigel, interestingly enough, the sounds that come with the download are for a Centarus engine, might even be the ones you did ... Mike

    Sounds.

If you've ever seen & heard one of these rorty buggers (to my ears) they sound like they've got a P&W R-1830 up the nose. I guess if you make a seven cylinder big enough, it sounds like a fourteen cylinder. Two of these Yaks flying at you wingtip to wingtip would sound very much like a later model DC-3/C-47.
