Payware versus Freeware
The 2009 payware Deltasim King George V. It was really a stunning model at the time I bought it (and still is).
And the 2020 freeware Prince of Wales (King George V class battleship). Converted from Sketchup to native FSX by Klaus Novak and converted into a pilotable vessel by Erwin Welker (Bavarian).
The payware version has even a Walrus on board. But somehow I think the freeware one looks better.
Cheers,

An interesting coincidence that you posted this. I have recently been re-discovering the possibilities made available with ships and AICarriers and water traffic in general - thanks to the skill and generosity of contributors to the SOH library. Around two days ago, while fussing around with 'big boats', I reloaded the King George. I agree with both of the points you made: 1) The Deltasim model was/is impressive, and 2) the Klaus Novak/Erwin Welker model looks better. I am amazed by the quality (and quantity) of the conversions that Klaus has contributed - my current favorite is the Liberty Ships package.
Thanks for posting your comparison.
Peace,

Another freeware ship. The first Dreadnought battleship of the Queen Elizabeth class.
from the same shipyard as in the previous post. (Converted from Sketchup to native FSX by Klaus Novak and converted into a pilotable vessel by Erwin Welker (Bavarian)).

Don't miss Jacques-Yves Cousteau's Calypso Research Vessel, by Mako8841, in the SOH library. He made also a separate Schweizer 269-B helicopter, thank you sir!
Cousteau was a hero for all French kids! I'm too young to remember this era (my father was in the Navy with his son) but the Calypso's expeditions were regularly showcased on French TV during the late 70's and 80's. I was hooked. So I'm glad to be able to sail around with her in FSX (here in Bora Bora).

The models in the pictures below all have something in common. Yes they are all stunning models and free, but they also all have a sound set made by Nigel Richards. It took me a while to realise how good these sound sets actually are. And they are definitely among the absolute best!
I could listen to the dark humming of the Lodestar for hours.......
Nigel's presence is missed.

Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.
Well I it's P3D so I am cheating showing it here but will take the compliment - thanks!Incredible shot - looks almost like MSFS!
