    Apache Drop tank

    I just downloaded the A.F. Scrub A-36 Apache ,and the left drop tank hangs down about 4 or 5 feet below the wing.On the ground it's partly below ground level. (I was so tempted to title this post ,"one hung low" but I resisted the temptation.
    The other tank and all the bombs seem ok ,just the left drop tank.
    Ant ideas how to fix this?

    [HARDPOINTS]

    Hey kwb737,
    You can correct this in the aircraft's dp file. The problem is with the Hardpoints mount locations.

    [HARDPOINTS]
    mount.0=-0.278,-1.08,-1.93 //L-R, U-D, F-B
    mount.1= 0.278,-1.08,-1.93
    mount.2=-0.278,-1.08,-0.05
    mount.3= 0.278,-1.08,-0.05
    mount.4=-0.278,-1.35,-1.93
    mount.5= 0.278,-1.35,-1.93
    mount.6=-0.278,-1.35,-0.05
    mount.7= 0.278,-1.35,-0.05
    mount.8=-0.278,-1.08,-0.5
    mount.9= 0.278,-1.08,-0.5

    The numbers are in reference to the model's true center. Usually the center line of the fuselage, where the main wing intersects.

    Up or down will be the second number. - is lower, + is higher from CL.

    It will be some trial and error and after every edit the .cdp file must be deleted prior to loading the aircraft in the sim.

    Hope this helps, Dave

    Thanks for trying

    We gave it a shot but no joy, I'am taking up way too much time trying to fix this and I can't see the tanks from the cockpit anyway. So Thanks so much for your suggestions I just could'nt hit the right numbers in the right places.
    I also downloaded a pak of two Mustangs from here and the cockpit glass is like looking through a milk bottle ,any way to clear that glass up? It's one of those planes,(two in one download actually) that has a horrible VC.

    It's Bill Dicken's Mod of an AF Scrub plane, but should do the trick !

    nope same problem

    I tried the A36 that sc 7500 said to try and it's the same plane with the same problem, left drop tank about 4 feet or so below the bottom of left wing. I oridginally got mine from Simviation.

    Bill Dickens, aka Bismark13, did a much nicer A-36 as part of the early Mustangs collection. His earlier A-36 was not nearly as nice as his newer one. The Early Mustang Collection also gives you the P-51A in US and RAF set ups. They are in the CFS2 Archives here on SOH. Well worth downloading.

    There are also a couple update packages with improved MDL files to grab as well. Lots of paints for the planes. Kelti did up new props and exhuast effects for the birds, so remember to grab them as well.

    ok found one

    I found one MkIA and a fix for the flaps

    Okay, I forgot that I uploaded the original packages for the Early Mustang Collection. Bismark13 uploaded the Mk1A and the flaps fix.

    Go to the Warbirds Archive, do an author search by my username. Go to page 13 of my uploads. 5th from the bottom of that page is the main Early Mustang Package and just above that is the F6B photo recon variant.

    I will try to post links to the downloads...but sometimes they don't work so well.

    ok one question

    First ,I got rid of the "one hung low" A36 ,your right the other Stangs and A36 are much better. Only thing is ,even with the flap fix ,on all these Mustangs you can only get ,no flaps or full flaps, no intermediate settings like I have in my P 51 D's. Any fix for that?

    Hurricane

    Open the aircraft.cfg files, scroll down and find the FLAPS section. Replace the Flaps section with this one:

    [flaps.0]
    type=1 // 1 - tail, 2 - lead
    span-outboard=0.12 // 0.0 .. 1.0
    extending-time=5 // seconds
    flaps-position.0=0 // degrees, KIAS
    flaps-position.1=10,347 // degrees, KIAS
    flaps-position.2=20,238 // degrees, KIAS
    flaps-position.3=30,195
    flaps-position.4=40,156
    flaps-position.5=50,143

    This new one will give you 6 flaps positions.

    that worked

    Thanks OBIO that worked for the flaps. Took me a lot of typing because I don't know how to delete a whole section and paste in a new one. But after making some mistakes the first couple of times ,I got it all right and now the flaps for all the planes work in all 5 positions.I got it printed out for when I'll have to do it again.
