Mount Cook Skywagons - testers needed!

    Dear folks!

FS9 users may have noticed my recent work on Carenado's amazing Skywagon:
    http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...l=1#post526245

Meanwhile, I managed to convert the textures to DDS.
I tried to include all files needed, so here comes the "FSX native" beta version of ZK-MDB:

All owners of the FSX model are invited to do some thorough testing!
Please report any issues or things to be improved.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    Markus.

Thanks for your replies so far - but what the heck is going wrong with the rudder?
It's supposed to read "MDB" and not "MDM" or "BDB"...
Seems like I have to flip those parts once again.

What about bump and specular mapping? Everything in place?
Sorry to bother you, but I have the FS9 model only...

    Cheers,
    Markus.

Bump & spec mapping are fine Markus. It seems that Roland and I have it different on the rudder; Can't explain that?

Doing something like this is true dedication. Not even having an FSX machine to preview it. Great work beta testers. You too Markus..lol

    Thanks, Oleboy! :salute:

Well, I do have FSX on my rig (that's why I'm convinced to better stay with FS9...), but lacking the genuine FSX Bushwagon model.

Comparing the screenshots makes me think the vstabs are where they belong but the rudders are flipped. Tried to compensate this.

Would you kind beta testers please try it again with this one here?
Just copy to the texture folder, overwriting the elder file.

    Thanks again for your support!

I've got FSX. If you consider my settings anything even close to enjoyable.
...I downloaded the original (native) above and applied your last edit.

Apparently I applied the wrong patch to get it to work on this one. I have to get that sorted. It's kind of confusing as there are three updates on Carenados site :isadizzy:

Hmmm - doesn't look too much better, does it?

    Let me guess:
You've bought the model before "April 17th, 2010 1200 GMT" or by a reseller?
    Then you might need the
C185F SKYWAGON BUSH FSX PATCH 1
    by Carenado, available here:
    http://www.carenado.com/ecommerce/links.php3

Just found out that the earlier release had a screwed-up rudder. Quoting Carenado:
"The patch corrects an error related to the assignation of textures in the rudder."

    So if you please...?

    Thanks a ton!

Here you can see that you solved the problem. And you did a nice job!!

    Thank You :ernae:

Looks like you replied as I was posting the update so, I'll give this a nudge post in case you're subscribed to it

I applied SP1 to the model as you pointed out. It fixed the mapping issue on the tail but, the right wing tip is still wrong. What patch to apply to fix?

  12. #12
What a Great paint to add to this little lovely

  13. #13
    Thanks, mate!

    @ OleBoy:
Seems to me as if you've taken the straight-wheeled "civil" model (was already admiring the cute wheel fairings on an earlier screenie).
Isn't a Skiplane supposed to wear skis....?
Maybe the wing-tip issue had to be cured by a seperate patch for the wheeled model?

Note to myself: Never paint a plane that's not your own... :isadizzy:

    Cheers,
    Markus.

Ok it's sorted with the patch.

Glad you got it sorted out, Roger!

To avoid any messing around before launching the release:
Which version of the Care185Ffuse_C.dds do you have installed?
Is it the one from my first, complete pack (filedate should be 28.12.2010, 18:09) or
my allegedly patched one from the second single upload (filedate 29.12.2010, 17:31)?

    @ OleBoy:
Hope you got your wheel fairings changed for skis meanwhile...

    Cheers,
    Markus.

    Markus,
The texture file is from the patch and the aircraft has the carenado patch applied.

I placed the paint back on the Ski Model where it was intended to be. The file that fixed it for me was (filedate 29.12.2010, 17:31) of which I added to the zip file

Thanks for cleaning up this mess, guys! :salute:
So the FSX paint is almost ready for packing.
Should be done tomorrow, as I now have some dinner to prepare this evening (it's about 4:30 PM local, and the outside fireworks starting to increase...).
    See ya next year! :ernae:

    Cheers,
    Makus.
