Update campaign Battle of the Somme 1940 uploaded

I just uploaded what could be called an intermediate version of this campaign, originally made by G. West. Intermediate since Rami has told me he plans an update too, and HIS campaign will be vastly superior to my humble effort. Still, we need French campaigns, and the main problem with this one is the lack of a good, modern MS 406. I choose Thicko's plane, but compared to the planes of Bismark13 it looks primitive. This upload may persuade designers to do a good MS 406. And for all you geniuses out there: We also need a French campaign for the French Curtiss Hawk and bomber campaigns - actually a French bomber was the first to bomb Berlin in WW2.

I hope you'll enjoy it. It is VERY hard to survive all 5 missions - it was in 1940, it still is. You'll find it under "whats new" in Warbirds.

Thanks Finn! We do have a number of nice French aircraft that could be adopted for future missions or campaigns.

By the way, the crew of that Farman F223.4, the Jules Verne, that made it to Berlin got there after a long and torturous flight over the Baltic Sea (Ostsee) as I recall. Unfortunately, when they got to Hitler's capitol they discovered that they forgot their bomb sight! If one did some research on the mission, it would probably qualify as the longest ranged bombing mission ever flown up until that time.

For anyone wanting to fly the big Farman, Alain Breton made a nice model for CFS 2. If anyone wants to replicate the mission or just fly one of the largest pre-war bombers, you can find it by searching for: f2234AB.zip

    Thanks

Thank you Finn. That part of ETO flying history needed some work.

    Cheers, Discus

    Exclamation For Finn...

    Finn,

As promised, I finished working on the Battle of the Somme and put it up on my box.net site. Feel free to critique it. I threw in plenty of random chance elements, and made the tank-busting mission very dynamic in terms of target selection. If you have any feedback, either positive or negative, don't hold back.

I'll release the package in a larger form once I work on the Battle of France, (RAF / Stuka) Dunkirk, and some CFS1 missions I have earmarked for conversion. I also want to do a mini-campaign for the Battles that Italy undertook in their invasion of France, from both an Italian and French perspective.

    Have a wonderful Friday!

One thing though...I disagree about the Ms-406.

    Much better solution available now

Boys (and Girls, sorry) please forget the whole thing. The Master himself, Rami now HAS put his much improved campaign of the Battle of the Somme on his homepage. I still haven't flown it, but boy, does it look good - and do we need it now! My advice to all lovers of early WW2 campaigns, go grab it right now.

Good to have this mission - please write a short read-me on what is needed, and re-upload it again in its own right as this thread is probably not seen by many after Rami released his new great version. This mission deserves to be flown by many.
