OK Guys for a lot of different reasons I may not finish my work by the end of the contest.

But here is my work so far...

After hours of work setting the blanks into Gimp in logical sections I finally could start painting something.

I started with the cowl flaps.

It looks like it will end up being a fictitious Desert Camo Scheme as I don't think that I am going to be good enough to do a realistic scheme.

Really I was going to try and follow a model I found on line but I could not find the color I wanted so I just used one that came up. I kind of like it so I am going to see where it takes me.

Ickie if you only want finished products posted here feel free to delete this post and I will create my own topic or just feel free to move it to its own topic.

Oh quick question for you real painters out there. I created a rivet brush in gimp to place rivets. Would it look better if I leave the panel lines in or are the rivets enough?

Now that I have the cowling laid out it should all be easy to modify.

looking good Dave, i've been re-making a paintkit first, still a long way to go... (oh and the red is what i'm working on next, only done fuselage so far and refined the cowling metal)

Thanks that color palette is the cats meow. I converted it into Gimp. Plus added 4 colors used in my paint so far.

Thanks I am going to make my way back from there. Yep I am making a Gimp Paint kit along the way. Its going pretty good on the paint kit side.

Now I may be forced to buy Abacus repaint just so I don't have to keep loading FS to see my work.

and now some screen shots of tonights work

The panel lines came out a little dark and needed some taming.

The tail is got too much definition and up towards the cowling there is some work to do but she is coming along.

Has anyone had the same texturing problems as me? I cant find the location of the paint areas outlined on the upper mainplane and the rear canopy braces,
    Cheers

The problem seems to be connected with the canopy glazing as the aberratiion moves when the Canopy is opened, oh well.

OK just a few more tweeks and I will have my entry in.

At this point I am not going to put any emblems on it. It doesn't make sense to place emblems on a fictitious paint when the paint scheme is Desert and the plane is a carrier based torpedo plane.

Its all in good fun so look for the final soon...

I just used the word "soon"

Does that make me a full fledged developer

I found my log on to upload files to the site but it does not work.

I emailed in a new request so I will get mine uploaded ASAP.

Pretty much what is above is what I have done. The only change I made was to the cowling panel lines and rivets.

    I'm wishing

that i had something to show for my efforts, but unfortunately real life sometimes jumps in the way. been busy babysitting my 9 month old grandson the last couple of weeks, not much time for anything else.
