One-off from 1924. Not European.
I think this little bipe is the Phillips Alouette.
Thanks, Kevin!
Here is another biplane from about the same vintage.
This biplane is from a well-known European company.
With a V12 Hispano-Suiza up front?
Indeed, Mike!
Would you like to solve the mystery?
I would, Robert, if I could - but I can't! I wasn't trying to be clever. Whilst my research enabled me to identify the engine, it didn't identify the aeroplane. I suspect that it's French but I'm afraid that I'm not that good on chasseurs of the twenties.
Now, you are on the right track, Mike.
That mystery plane might be called a step backwards in terms of modern construction since the company had already built monoplane fighters and in fact it seems to be the only biplane from this société.
While typing an answer to Mike's post, Chris already hat the solution for the mystery.
It is the Dewoitine D.15.
Over to you, Chris
Les Avions Dewoitine doesn't mess about - refers to the D.15 as bâtard de la famille....
Wife's computer died so she's using mine. Don't get on much.

Chris
welll...
it sorta looks like a Fairchild 22C-7 with a Gypsy,
but on second look I'll go with a Menasco

Fairchild 22 is all for which I was looking - because I don't yet any more about it! Had I more time on Saturday, I would have asked its owner/restorer. But for the present, the baton goes back across the pond!
Wrong rotation for a menasco surely?
Keith
Yes Keith, but whichever, I'll blame it on the heat.
Eagerly awaiting more updates from PH.
It's "Texas-hot" in western Canada these days 30+C with increases daily until the end of the week. Some places are on pace for successive days of all-time records ( or nearly so). Temps we only rarely see and not normally until August. Of course nighttime "lows" are hovering around 20C, but who needs sleep?
That said, my computer time is heat-limited so I'll make it OH.

That's why I don't like OH.
Here is a nice low-winger that hopefully doesn't bother you for too long.
I wonder whether I should get my cat to identify this one!
Perhaps I should add that my cat is of the opinion that it is a mouse, more specifically of the Comper variety, and that I am not inclined to disagree with him. He is far more au fait with mice than I am!
Mike, I guess this rather convoluted answer is a try to give the solution of the mystery as Comper Mouse.
If I'm not totally wrong with my assumption the answer is correct and the baton goes to
Santé
Not seen that photo before of her.
And you can find my version of her for FS9 & FSX in the library!
Keith
I'll ask my cat to post the next challenge - but it may not be until the morning because he wants to watch Belgium beat Italy in the football!
