As I have exhausted the few items that I had 'in stock' and won't have time to look for anything else before next Monday, if anyone would care to step into the breach, in the meantime, I'll be most grateful to them.

Because it's been so quiet in here, I'll interrupt the serenity and toss out a guess.

Temco TE-1B (T-35A), and going for the bonus, Saudi Arabia, late 1950's

Or it's something else, somewhere else...

Pretty good shot. Yes it is a Temco Buckaroo.
According to my file it is a TE-1A rather than B, but that is more than close enough.

For the bonus, you are also pretty close:
Location is not quite Saudi, but Middle East indeed.
Time period is offby about 10 years, tough.

You do get the baton with honors. Do you care to try and refine your bonus shot ?

First things first: having found your possible source, we move to - Israel, 1948-50

It's almost as bad as French aircraft, and proof Wiki is, at best, a 'second source' (I wasn't using it).
They are all over the place with their "A" and "B"s. Of note: "Both Italy and Israel bought a single TE-1B Buckaroo in 1948.", but the Israeli AF calls it a TE-1A and notes that it was powered by a Continental C-145 although the only engine Wiki lists is the Franklin. Matters not - it's a TE-1 (A/B) but there might be a story.

Onward with this crazy little number...

I got sidetracked, concentrating more on trying (and failing) to work out what model the ice cream van was?

Well, that's a better alibi than " my dog ate my homework while I was waiting for the bus that hit a giraffe that was walking through the roundabout..."

    - I will offer a WAG that it was a Thames.

If this is evolving into the Historical Ice Cream Vans Society, then my money is on a Bedford CF.

  19. #25044
........ My money's on the Bedford too ....

moving on with a nippy Delta ....

My first thought was the Thames, but they had that a very distinctive look about them, which that doesn't have. So, yes, the Bedford seems the most likely.
