Hi DHC2pilot, that was fast!
I have as date of FF 2 August 1968. Will need to check this.
Also recently read that in company docs this aircraft was initially referred to as the Model 9KCAB (which I guess would have made some sense). Ever heard of that, or better, anyone can confirm this?
you have control, Sir!
seems that N5143T still exists and it may be nearing completion after a thorough restoration. For those interested please see:
www.joeld.net/citabria/history.html
The Nov. '68 Air Progress states that the aircraft made it's first flight "...last august 2nd", which to me means August 2nd of '67, however they could have meant '68. 9KCAB would be correct - fat fingered that one.
Up next:
From a country better known for it's Vodka than it's efforts in aviation.
Vodka, eh ? Russia, then, (or Finland if you're a connoisseur), Poland for the really hot stuff, dammit, they even make vodka up here now.....
Getting nowhere with this wee devil.
I didn't know that Briggs & Stratton exported engines to Russia...
Somewhere between Sweden and mother Russia. :mixedsmi: Late '40's. Briggs & Stratton? Heck, that's a Cox .049 up front.
Latvia Lithuania or Estonia?
If it's between Sweden and Russia, it's Finland. Been there a couple of times and never seen this flivver buzzing around.
Maybe if I'd gone to the local Helsinki fairground........
Time to reveal this oversized RC plane. We have been held hostage too long!
Actually, if it's postwar, I am little surprised that Wout has not sniffed around.
I agree....but wanted to give you guys a chance. Our mystery is none other than the Kyrölä Monoplane.

Up next...something a bit more modern.
I'm pretty sure about the flying wing so I will move things along with a little parasol (groan).
Bookmarked that Finnish site. Thanks.
Funny, the Kyrölä doesn't show up on that site ?????
Correct, the pic came from a different, now defunct site.
Almost forgot.... a belated brewsky for our resident Texan on the Panek-Mattlener PUL-10
The designer (pictured), moved on to helicopters after a couple of fixed wing designs, including this parasol number.
Sorry chaps haven't had time tonight - been round at our local hotel listening to this up-and-coming young guitarist.....(sorry for the lousy pic -wee camera playing up)
John Jorgenson plying his craft on a Squier Jaguar?
I found a poster on the parasol. Should help...
I hear crickets. Okay, this is the CAGA (Costruzioni Aeronautiche Giovanni Agusta) AG.2 from 1927. Never could find engine specs or number built despite what the poster said.
What is this one then?
One built, being modified as a two place setup from single seat version one. From a tiny firm that built only three planes.
<SMALL>Brown Metalark II 2p with modified engine mount [10668] (Ralph Nortell)</SMALL>
Metalark II aka Silver Streak 1932 = 1-2pOlwM; 90hp ACE; span: 26'1" length: 20'7" load: 347#; ff: 10/18/31 (p: Max Fennell). All-aluminum; full cantilever wing with three spars and no ribs, Friese ailerons. Modified with second cockpit in front; inverted engine. POP: 1 [10668], crashed during landing in a fog
I thought this was an interesting all alum bird for it's time. Open board please.
Why did they move the engine?
That was a hard one. Something a bit easier.
