Thread: The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

She put in an appearance here eleven months ago, Keith. I identified her then so I'll leave it to someone else to do so this time.

So she has......must have missed that event when she first showed up!

Have to call it open house until I can find something really obscure then, so its goodbye to the Hills Helvetia.

Ooops - sloppy memory recall - something Swiss mixed with Cumbria...? Both have mountains methinks!

Mike, looks like you are up as no one else chimed in.

  7. #23957
Quite deliberately, I avoided an identification, for the reason given before, and only corrected that given by Keith. Hence me not posting since. But as no-one else seems to want to fill the lacuna and as requested by Kevin, here's something which I would have thought has appeared here before - but a search of this thread indicates that it hasn't.

Clearly you have it, Uli, but I know it as the Brunswick Zaunkoenig V-2 (D-YBAR/VX190/G-ALUA/EI-AYU/D-EBCQ). Does your title come from the fact that it was designed by Dr-Ing. Hermann Winter?

I used to see her quite often at air shows in the 1950's, Shoreham, Coventry, & if a strong enough wind was present she would fly backwards (relative to the ground).

After lurking for many years, I finally I think I know one.....

The SNCAC (Nord) NC-1080 prototype for a carrier based interceptor.

    Cheers,
    Huub

I am sorry to disappoint you, Huub

This one has nothing to do with SNCAC or any other Société National de Constructions Aéronautiques

Indeed, Uli. It's the Dassault MD.450-30L. An Ouragan with a difference !

    (Huub, please don't stop lurking!)

You guys are just to good, so I had to check my obscure books to see whether I could find something suitable. I hope it hasn't been posted yet.

History doesn't have any secrets for you. A cold beer for you and your turn to find something unrecognisable.....

    Cheers,

Huub, Can I pass it back to you? I will be out of town for the next week or so with limited internet access.
