    Using a Firewall?
you should get a message from the firewall when you open the Multiplayer screen asking if you wish to allow CFS2 to access the internet, trouble is you dont see it if you have CFS2 running in full screen mode.

    Using a router?
If so you need to open (Port Forward) these ports:

    TCP Ports:
    443-443
    6667-6667
    28800-29100
    2300-2400
    47624-47624

    UDP Ports:
    2300-2400

Here is a KB article that describe the necessary ports that need to
    be open.

    CFS2 is a DirectX 7 game

    This might help too.

    k9ulan,

You can also hit CRTL + ENTER to run CSF2 in 'windowed' mode.

Also, here are the places to be for online play:

If your just doing it at home with both computers, Here are some tips.

#1-make sure the computers are on the same workgroup-Example(Right click the My computer Icon, click properties, Then click the Computer Name tab. If they are not on the same workgroup, Click the button labeled Change. It will bring up a window where you can change the workgroup, computer name and domain names.

#2-make sure they have differrent IP Addresses. To check your IP address(IP stands for Internet Protocol) click start, then run. Type cmd in the window. It will bring up a window with a black screen and white letters. Type ipconfig in there and it will show you your IP address.

Other than that, I'm not sure.
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
