    Naval Questions part 21

Remember, these questions were composed between 1940 and 1945.

    Questions

201 What is the "galley wireless"?

202 When is a rope said to be "hanging Judas"?

203 How would you translate "tied on with string" into naval idiom?

204 Would it be correct to write: "Rear-Admiral John Smith, R.N., was on Nelson?"

205 What is the order for blacking out at sea?

206 Where would you find the key to the compass box?

207 What is the "monkey island"?

208 How is time kept on board ship?

209 Which were the three British Cruisers which fought the Graf Spee?

210 When are "eight bells" sounded afloat?

    Answers next Sunday.

Yes I know, but Cumberland didn't engage. She only arrived after the Graf Spee was in Montevideo. They were the only three to fight.

The questions were framed in the 1940's, not in the PC world of today.

Achilles was attached to the British Squadron and so became "British" for all intents and purposes of propaganda.

But, by all means....wash his mouth out and perhaps you can extend that to Dirtman?:costumes::costumes:
