I like that - much more realistic!

Another useful way to force AI torpedo attack is to categorise your chosen torpedo bombers as cat 9, arm them with bombs and tell them to attack with bombs at your desired waypoint where you want the torpedos launched. Then hand edit the mission to give them torpedos (instead of bombs), except the lead aircraft which must still have bombs. They will then drop their torpedos, and on the exact attack/flight path you want, avoiding all the usual flying around. Useful option for some scenarios.

    Hi Hiede,

There's actually a built in Kamikaze attack option in the MB but it's been hidden. When I get some spare time, I plan to look into it and see if I can enable it.

Here's the full list of MB available options behind the scenes:

    Anti-ship attack
    Bail out
    Attack with rockets
    Land anywhere
    Attack w/ torpedoes
    Loiter
    Attack w/ guns
    Kamikaze attack
    Alert
    Attack w/ all weapons
    Escort attach
    Detach flight
    Intercept all
    Intercept bombers
    Escort detach

    Cheers

    Aloha Aussie,

Only time I go into the MB is to check the scenery when I help my son put in new scenery. The only missions I usually flew were WWI by Al ( Talon ).He did 2 WWI Campaigns which he never released,Werner Voss and the Red Baron.

In his journals Al mentions a lot of people he worked with and respected. He was also working on MB tutorial that went beyond the Cody one, with his approval. Some of the other things he talked about is how he fixed planes to get them to do their job.Today the newbies don't know him and the things he did,but the old timers do.

This (attached hopefully) torpedo attack mission has amended dp file for Avenger so that the lead plane has a small bomb and a torpedo. The rest of the planes including player (part of the flight), have torpedos only. They "attack with bombs" as a group but launch their torpedos instead. torpedo mission.zip

    Oil Storage Tanks UT

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery - Library objects

Description: Oil Storage Tanks for CFS2 by UncleTgt

These are 2 sets of bulk oil storage tank objects for use in CFS 2. They are multi-LOD & have destroyed models & textures. One set is painted Olive Drab, the other in a neutral grey.

I struggled to find definite information on tank dimensions, so ended up with 4 different sizes, mainly matching the information about the remotely located bulk oil stores that were constructed across Australia during 1942/43. This range may need adding to ...

5m diam x 9m high nominal capacity 1000 USG The AF B1 & G1 tank is larger than this

9m diam x 9m high nominal capacity 2500 USG The AF B1 & G1 tank is smaller than this

18m diam x 9m high nominal capacity 7000 USG A squat, larger diameter storage vessel

21m daim x 11m high nominal capacity 15000 USG This object closely matches the AF_B2 & G2 tanks for size

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

Wow! Great work UT. The collateral damage to nearby structures is massive when you torch one of these.

Or... "be vewy, vewy careful..." You can always install them and hand edit them into a mission file in place of a similar fuel/oil tank. Not recommended for the faint of heart.

RWILLS, thanks for the idea with the hand-edited payloads. I tried it with the SG Betty, and it works perfectly.
I didn't know about Cat 9 bombers. Can you tell me what is different to the usual Cat 5 or 2?
I also tried your method for torpedo attacks with the un-modified Betty (Cat 5), it also works this way.
I always appreciate when people share their knowledge, so, thanks again!

Wow, Unc! You really have been busy recently. Many thanks (sorry Allen - tanks ) for these and all the other eye candy and fixes you've been posting. Much appreciated and yet more handy tools in the box.

Shadow Wolf I have hand edited a/c and ships in missions that were incorredtly "typed". I might be "vewy vewy" careful and give it a try.
Haven't been able to do any CFS 2 "stuff" since 87 days except check out and look at all the items being added! Wow

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery - Library objects.

Description: New Texture for Wolfies wbridge1 for CFS2 by UncleTgt.

I enlarged the "bridge1" bitmap & created a "worn" stone texture for the piers, & sharpened the detail on the timber roadway & rusted girders - giving a better fit for those older ETO bridges.

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

Thanks to: Wolfi for his many scenery objects & aircraft models.

Description: GB Bailey Bridge objects for CFS2 by UncleTgt.

After making the German pontoon bridge I noticed there weren't any good depictions of the ubiquitous Bailey Bridge.

Destroyable objects for use in missions. They are multi-LOD. All models have their own damage models.

Models included: GB_Bailey2x1_2m_UT - A Bailey Bridge section, placed at 2m height. (Wolfi's Piers are 2m high)
GB_Bailey2x1_dbl_2m_UT - A longer section for those wider crossings.

GB_Baileyramp2x1_0to3m_UT - A longer ramp from ground level to 3m high.
GB_Bailey2x1_wf1b_4m_UT - Same dimensions as Wolfi's wbridge1b, but with Bailey bridge sections between the piers.
GB_Bailey2x1_wf1c_4m_UT - Same dimensions as Wolfi's wbridge1c, but with Bailey bridge sections from the ramp to the pier.

GB_pontoon2x1_UT - A Bailey Bridge placed on pontoon rafts.
GB_pontoon2x1_dbl_UT - A longer section for those wider river crossings.
GB_pontoon2x1ramp_UT - A ramp for the transition to/from the river banks.
GB_pontoon_trvl_UT - A trailer loaded with pontoon rafts.

    Churchill & AVRE tanks UT

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Other - Vehicles.

Description: Churchill & AVRE tanks for CFS2 by UncleTgt.

So after completing the range of Bailey Bridge objects I noticed there weren't any vehicles apart from the usual US stuff. So here are some Churchill & AVRE tanks.

Destroyable objects for use in missions. They are multi-LOD. All models have their own damage models.

    Models included: GB_Churchill_UT - Depicted as a cast-turreted MkIV.
RU_Churchill_UT - Supplied as Lend-Lease, MkIII & IV tanks appeared just in time for Kursk.

GB_AVRE_UT - After the disaster at Dieppe, a dedicated Engineer vehicle was developed using the MkII & MkIV chassis.

GB_AVRE_fascine_UT - Std AVRE depicted carrying a fascine, used to cross anti-tank ditches & small streambeds.

GB_AVRE_SBG_UT - AVRE carrying a Small Box Girder bridge, for when something a little more substantial is required.

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

Thanks to: Allen for his Making Exploding Objects using FS2002 Tools & Tutorial.
