    Cfs 2

just got this nunning on my win 10 box. Since it has been years since i played this one i am not sure what version i have How can i find the version i am running are there available patch files???
i would like to play with the most updated version!
Also i noticed some one posted a download file for the "Frank" (japan) how hard is it for me to get that plane loaded in my game? Will it be a flyable plane or just an AI controlled plane??
sorry for all the newbie questions!

    John,

Don't be sorry! We all start somewhere. I have some questions and thoughts to get you started.

    1) What type of install are you looking for? Standard Pacific, European? Mediterranean? There are lots of different options.

    2) Most of the stock aircraft and ships have all been upgraded by various authors. Do you want to start there?

Please feel free to respond and let us know where you want to go, and we'll be happy to guide you.

    Welcome back!

Rami thanks for the reply i think i would like to start with stock game I was given to understand that the game has at least two stock versions

off hand i do not know which one i have can you suggest how i might go about determining that?? also at a later date I would love to increase the plane inventory

I had all I could do to install it and run it in win 10
I am most open to suggestions you may have i do not consider myself a Modder so am careful to not go too far outside my comfort zone

    Question Reply...

    John,

I have no way of knowing which version you have. There really is not a "patch" to speak of, but if you begin to explore the library, you will seen that there are so many places to start, from scenery to aircraft, from effects to ships.

Where would you like to get started?

    John,

Okay. the original sim has only six flyable aircraft.

    The Grumman F4F Wildcat
    The Grumman F6F Hellcat
    The Vought F4U Corsair
    The Lockheed P-38F Lightning
    The Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero
    The Kawanishi NiK2-J George

All of the other folders consist of AI aircraft. If you want to start with replacing the non-flying aircraft, I would suggest you begin with installing The B24 Guy's overhauled models.

John, first of all, welcome aboard! There are many Pacific (PTP) missions and campaigns to choose from. Many use a mix of stock and downloaded aircraft, ships, objects and scenery. You will have many hours of enjoyment with them.

As Rami said, if you have any questions don't be afraid to post them, you will get answers fairly quickly.

    Help CFS 1 and 2

Shadow thanks so much. i am really putting a major effort for CFS 2. Also i am trying to get back to some CFS 1 gaming. Right now things are going better than expected for CFS 2 and am loving it!!

I have CFS 2 on a win 10 machine and i have a Cyborg (Saitek) 30 Gold joystick and it works like a charm for all CFS 2 actions. Also i have some other Flight Sims and it works well for them. The irritant
is the joystick does work not for CFS 1 at all. I had games ,CFS 1 and CFS 2, years ago and never had any joystick issues. It must be resident in CFS 1. Can you suggest a work around??

On a related note i am traveling to Yorktown VA on Sunday Sept 28th. My college roommate is undergoing chemo treatments and he is not allowed to drive or be alone. He is alone and i have agreed to stay with him. Our routine is i drive him to chemo (at Riverside) around 10 :30 am and pick him up 3 hours later for week one. He lives off of RT 17 near the Tastycake outlet store . I plan on bringing my two CFS games with me. Would love to chat with you while I am there. He is retired from USAF and NASA. I am retired and will travel down there once he gets the final green light to start the treatment. We will know when that will be very soon here.

Would love to grab lunch with you and pick your brain on things.

    Sincerely

    John Martino

Hi John, I hope I'm permitted to ask you about your CFS2-settings in WinX. I am very interested if you can play CFS2 in 32bit-mode and if so, how you managed to do that.

    Kind regards & safe landings,

    hertzie.
