World Update X: United States and US Territories

World Update X captures the spirit of the United States of America and all of its exquisite landscapes, cityscapes, and breathtaking vistas to enjoy from above in Microsoft Flight Simulator.Explore the renowned canyons of the Desert Southwest, roam throughout storied architecture of America’s great cities, and soar among peaks that tower miles above their surroundings with World Update X. The Microsoft team built this USA update using the latest high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery and coupled it with the most recent digital elevation modeling data available. It features triangulated irregular network (TIN) modeling of 12 urban regions including San Diego (California), Albany (New York), Key Largo (Florida), Seattle (Washington), Eugene (Oregon), and more.
Gaya Simulations handcrafted four airports: Catalina Airport (KAVX) on California’s Catalina Island, Alaska’s Valdez Airport (PAVD), Lake Tahoe Airport (KTVL) in California’s Sierra Nevada, and Rhode Island’s Block Island State Airport (KBID). There are 87 exciting new points of interest (POIs) created by Gaya Simulations and Perfect Flight has created three landing challenges, three Discovery Flights, and three bush trips for World Update X: USA.

It's scheduled for today? I'll wait a couple of days!

Thanks for the heads up. I was about to try out Dave Garwood's Hunter, but I think I'll refrain!

    Yes, available now.

And don't forget to check your content manager, I had 12 updates available.

Clear your rolling cache while you are at it!

Obviously, rename your Community folder before the update.
Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.

Bok Tower Gardens is an interesting choice - I've been there. They had signs up saying don't feed the squirrels, but then they sold bags of raw peanuts in the gift shop. I don't know one single human that likes raw peanuts. As for the critters, not only will they take the nuts from your hands, they'll climb your pants leg to get them - at least they did when I was there ~25 years ago.

Update IX broke my ability to search and find POI's. The new IX POI's appeared on the maps and could be loaded and viewed,
Uninstalling/Installing MSFS did not fix the POI problem.

Update X did not repair the POI problem.

With update X it seems none of the Update X POI's even show on the map. The handcrafted airports appear as default. Two of the PG cities I tested are not photogrammetry. Using google maps coordinates to locate two advertised POI's showed no objects depicting the expected POI. No new discovery flights were found. The only things that indicate update X are the MSFS heading of 1.26.5.0 and the new screens showing what should be in the update.

I started the X update via xbox, then started MSFS which showed 2.63 GB that was installed. In the content manager 11 indicated files were updated. And yes the community file was empty.

In a few days I'll Uninstall/ Install MSFS again. Not too hopeful this will help as it seems something is causing some features to not load. Very frustrating!!!

Make sure you also download the World Update from the Marketplace, sounds like it is not installed on your end. It is a separate download from the mandatory update.

Yes, I forgot to load the world update. Now things seem normal. POI search is also back.

Thanks so much for the reminder.

How does it conflict, correct or complement World Update II USA?

As would be expected, there are absolutely no conflicts or doubled-up landmarks/airports between the two USA World Updates - this World Update is meant to be a continuation/addition to the previous USA World Update (you wouldn't want one with the other). Many more landmarks, more detailed city models, and a few more highly detailed airports. As with all World Updates, in order to get all of the hand-modeled landparks/POI's, airport sceneries, and mission fights, you have to download the World Updates (all free) from the in-game Marketplace.

In addition, there are supposed to be a lot of updated aerials and height map across the whole of the USA, as of yesterday. Those updates of course are infused whether you download the World Update or not. Both of the places within the US that I flew from yesterday in the sim I noticed the aerials are new.

As far as I understood the interview of Jorg, this world update is a complement to the World Update II, kind of.
It contains improvements of aerial imagery for several places in the US, as well as better mesh for several areas, plus some custom airports and other custom things.
Basically, Jorg explained that when they did the World Update II for the USA, they were still unsure about what they should include, or how much they should include in that package. Nowadays, with the experience, the amounts of new (updated) aerial imagery from Bing, and the feedback from the community, they can offer a much richer package.
Not sure they will do the same for other world updates, but I guess it is a possibility.

Beware when flying in Monument Valley...if you fly near the "monuments" you΄ll be glued to them like in a flytrap. No escape...

Still no love, apparently, for KGSO - even though it's the home of HondaJet.

Finally updated. I kept a record this time.

    1521 - Start update
1533 - Drop from 90+% back to 63% looping on fsbase. Shut down, delete leftover patch file.
    1535 - Restart, d/l total now up to 13.75GB.
    1545 - At least I'm getting good speed for the d/l - ~50Mbps.
1546 - Where's something wooden I can knock on after that last statement?
1549 - I knew I shoulda kept my mouth shut - speed falling off by ~40%.
1614 - At 75%, it's still on 1/13 downloading the entire fsbase folder. The 29 compressed files d/l'd so far total 10.3 GB. Speed holding around 30 Mbps.
    1629 - Fsbase decompression begins.
1632 - Decompression successful! On to the other 12...
    1634 - Done!!!
1637 - Heading into the Marketplace to get the rest.
1639 - The new Marketplace layout blows. Why do I have to scroll and search to find the WU package??? Dowloading...
1706 - WUX is installed, now on to the Content Manager.
1517 - Four minutes short of two hours, and everything's done. 216 items in the official folder now have today's date as a timestamp. Grand total uncompressed new/updated content is 53.9 GB. And I'm too tired to fly...
