    MS/Carenado Staggerwing Out!

Released yesterday, the Beech 17 Staggerwing is available on the Marketplace for only $14.99 US. I don't have it yet, and probably won't, but not so much because of the purchase method, but because I enjoy the more modern planes with autopilot. From the video, the looks of this thing are gorgeous!

It's really nice. There's a prewar USAAF (US Embassy, actually) paint included. Typical Carenado -- beautiful visuals, and convincing enough flight model for me. Trim it a little nose up and zoom in on the landing gear retraction sequence -- the detail's pretty awesome!

Jankees already has a couple of wonderful paints for it up. Hoping to see some more military paints, such as RAAF and wartime US as well!

    Does it feature opening doors/windows?

I did see in a reviewer's video, that the windows were rolled down by the reviewer as he leaned out, right & left to "clear prop".... I just can't remember who it was

It's a beauty and I am glad to have it back in MSFS.

The fuel management is quite tricky. After a dying engine upon approach I went through some learning.

I could not spot any Carenado typical controle-pad, but doors and windows open by clicking the right handles in the VC.
    Dont grow up! ... It´s a trap!

  7. #7
The control-pad is there in the code. Maybe it will be added in a patch.
The V-strut on the windshield can be removed by clicking the vents.

Yep, not only do the doors open, but there's a doorplate inside when you do!

This is easily my favorite Carenado plane yet.

A beauty, wonder how to open the doors...one of my favorites as well...

I am waiting for a decent review of it to appear on YouTube. So far all the reviews have been rushed to get the vids out within a day or two of release, and none of them have anything intelligent to say about whether the flight model is realistic. Having been burned with the Ju 52 and F.VII in having bad flight models that can't be tuned because its an Official plane, I'm going to need some reassurance that they haven't put a 200 hp or a 1,000 hp engine in it or whatever.

Unless I've missed something, only the single, rear door opens. You can roll the windows down for the pilot and co-pilot doors but they don't open for me.

Into the blue has a nice asessment. It's not a study sim, but a very good $15 aircraft. I agree with his assessment of the "bounce" on landing. Yet to get it to settle smoothly on any surface.

    Nc80309

Jankees, please say you'll add NC80309 to your repaint list. The version you did for the Alabeo Staggerwing was beautiful, and easily my favorite. Those pics I sent you were from Oshkosh where I visited with the owner when I was there in 2011. Thanks in advance if you do it.

I just noticed it also. Don't know why I never noticed it before. The "C" is missing from the wing registration.

Yes, and the number on the rudder should be 80309 instead of 30809 , shouldn't it be?

    We'll forgive you, this time.

I missed the rudder one too. And I took the pictures of the 1:1 plane!

Obviously, I am not a "rivet counter" but I rather just see the overall picture.

    LOL,
If you knew how often things like this happen to me. . .
I didn't want to be a nitpicker, but it jumped straight into my eye and I thought better I might mention it .
BTW, many thanks for this wonderful repaints.

if you want to nitpick a bit more, the walkway should not continue this far forward to the leading edge. I removed it in my paint, but it's still there....not sure why?
