MSFS 2020 with out internet

I don't have/use MSFS 2020 (I am into P3D V4.5 looking to go P3D V5 soon) and wondered if it required internet connection.
Here is a video that kinda explains it. It looks like tons and tons of extra file downloads are required (explained in video).

I for one would not prefer to always have to rely on internet connection to play.

You can fly MSFS without internet, but you will be limited in scenery. I once read that you can download scenery of where you want to fly and save it for later use. However, I don't remember how to do so. Since I am blessed with a 1GB fiber optic connection I haven't considered not using the internet.

Yes as Jmig says, there is an option to cache scenery data, however, the downloads can be rather large!
