    Me-209 II

    I have been playing with Dave Hanvey's Me-209 II recently. Slowly refurbishing MDL & textures.
    Still WIP (believe it or not, the right side is blank ! ), the MDL is great, with almost no distortion, allowing for up to date textures, the original were rather basic.
    Trying to depict one of the prototype, will see for a few "what if" when finished.

    Hi L,
    Very nice indeed!

    Always like Dave's 209's, the I and the II, but as you say the tex doesn't do the model justice...until now..

    The joint lines and info wording/numbers are incredibly clear, thin and sharp.

    Cheers

    Looks great L'iguane! And as you most probably know I'm real Messserschmitt 109 man, so this is really one to look forward to for me.

    (Not to long ago I even pushed somebody to make me a Berta/Cersar/Dora model
    )

    Cheers,
    Huub

    Thanks Shessi, I'm planning also to rework the 209H v1, result could be cool ! (I did some research, the designation Me-209 came for 2 projects under RLM, the (first) Me-209 was a racer, record breaker & propaganda tool in the late 30's. The Me-209 II was a proposal to compete against FW-190D9 & TA152 from Focke-Wulf. Initially, it was supposed to use a large amount of Bf109 components. However it ended up in beeing a complete different aircraft, heavier and 50 km/h slower than its competitors. Many prototype were flown, This Me-209 II and the Me-209H from Dave Hanvey are one of those.

    Huub, I suspected you were going to be enthusiastic about this one. I'm glad you like it.
    German camo are quite difficult to catch when painting !!

    It's starting to look like a german aircraft !

    Excellent artwork l'iguane. You've got a light touch on the spray gun.

    What a brilliant plane! It's like the offspring of a Bf-109K and a TA-152!!

    I was thinking the same thing, but also throw in a Me-262 tail.

    Thank you all.
    I did some brush experiment on a "what if" livery, loosely based on a late war Bf109K-4.

    Where can I find Dave Hanvey's Me-209v5?

    I've tried the usual sites, & I'd love to find it.

    When you are not able to open the link given by Mick, you can also search on "Me209" in the search text field in the library (make sure you download the correct FS9 version and not the CFS2 version).

    Well there's a thing I never knew, there were 2 designs designated Me209,the one we see here and an earlier one;
    designed for air racing

    Hmmmm... The link works for me; I just tried it again to be sure.

    However, the resulting download, though clearly named an FS9 aircraft, contains a damage profile like a CFS2 plane. Maybe it's the wrong version, or maybe the DP was left in by accident when the plane was converted - if in fact it started as the CFS2 plane.

    Initially I had searched for the modeler's name, but I just searched for ME209 and got hits for both versions, and the FS9 one is the one I linked to, so I guess it's the right one.

    I'm sure it does Mick, but somehow the link doesn't work for me. That is why I made my post for those who are perhaps facing the same problem as I did.

    Thanks, all. So strange that I could not find it, I'm an old hand at searching for planes, and somehow this one eluded me.

    All I can put it down to, is that my internet has become Very intermittent, and possibly it was dropping off when I was trying to search, giving me a 'not found' error.

    So the Flightsim link is the one to use for FS2004?

    Thanks for the help.

    I'm loving what you have done with this model, The paints schemes are brilliant.
