Halberstadt Cl.II

In development: I know there are only a few guys who are interested in WWI aircraft but I do these mainly for myself anyway. Most of the famous types have already been well done, but there were still a few gaps which I'm trying to fill in. The Halberstadt Cl.II was a major German type during the 1917 -1918 time period, filling the reconnaissance aircraft escort and ground attack roles. I still have the VC and 2D panels, and the air files to do yet.

Nearing my goal I think, because I have no idea what I should do after this one.

That looks beautiful and I look forward to it. What poly/vert count have you got on that? And, do you use 0.001 snap to scale/smooth settings?

Totally agree on trying to get the odd/unusual and un-represented into the sims, most everything else has been done to death!

It's also good when you can help fast-track your builds/re-vamps/conversions using a great library of stuff, like MG's, crew, engines etc.

German flying boats like Hansa-Brandenburg CC, perhaps in austro-hungarian livery to accompany the Lohner's, and other birds for the severely underrepresented Adriatic theatre

The main model is 14,202 vertices and 11,443 poly's. I'm still working on the VC and LODs. I'm only using 0.1 scaling. And you're right about the engines, guns and crew library. Once I have a gun like the Vickers, or Parabellum, I can re-use it on another plane that used it which does save time. Same with crew members. Modeling a human is a lot harder for me than anything else.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - World War I

Description: Halberstadt Cl.II

The Halberstadt Cl.II was a highly successful escort fighter and infantry support aircraft. In November 1916, Halberstadt began development of prototypes built to Idflieg’s new lightweight C class specifications. (C= armed two seat and the lower case l meant lightweight). Following successful flight testing in May 1917, an order for 100 was placed, of an eventual 900 total. Initially the Cl.II had a forward firing Spandau mounted on the port side of the engine. Late production had the Spandau moved to the starboard side mounted above the engine. It could be equipped with a radio and camera but was usually not so equipped.


Although it was beginning to be replaced by the even lighter Halberstadt Cl.IV in the middle of 1918, it soldiered on until the Armistice. It also saw post war service with Poland.

The model, textures. panel and air files are by Captain Kurt. The pilot figures were developed from Wolfi's freeware Japanese pilot .fsc source file.


The prop spinning texture is by Kelticheart.


The Hand Weapons models and textures are by Captain Kurt. Kdriver and Martin Klein did the conversions to exploding weapon.


Gauges are by Martin Klein (with a couple of texture change outs by Captain Kurt), Bastian Hundt, and Horst Weingärtner.


To install copy into your main microsoft games\Combat flight Simulator2\AIRCRAFT folder. Copy the gauges into the Combat flight simulator2\GAUGES folder.
