Thread: The MSFS PMDG DC-6 Livery Thread

Yes Carl, so many people are asking about it, a turbine T206H would be really nice. At the moment I am really busy to realtime jobs and private and have less time to the simulators. But if we have a stable MSFS for developers, I will start.

Seeing these amazing liveries caused me to lose the battle.

I could just no longer resist the itch to get this airplane in my hangar.

Downloading as I type this, and already grabbed some liveries, like the Transavia, Flying Dutchman and the Northwest ones. Surely many more to follow...

I will probably spend the first few hours sitting at the parking ramp reading the documentation, and watching tutorials, while hopefully listen to those radials fire up and purrrrr.

As I am left-handed when it comes to FS2020 aircraft repaints, I want to thank all these artists for their efforts.

Happy flying (I hope soon for me),
nice to hear from you again, it's hard not to give up on these radial engines and these oil and smoke belching tailpipes, welcome to the era of needle gauges in MFS2020

Today I finished my work on Conner Air Lines N55CA after collecting a lot of "new" pictures of MIA´s corrosion corner and its time in Opa Locka. Black stripes on wings are removed.

Exhaust gas areas are now over the whole wings. Wings and engines textures (albedo and composite) are redone from scratch.

    Hope you like it.

    Thomas-

She's corroded enough, dirty enough and unmarked enough for me to take her South, out of Corrosion Corner, to the jungle waiting... I shall enjoy many trips just above the tree lines, whilst making my living carrying cargo boxes I never open .

Miama is disappearing into the rear...

... and there's LOT'S of water ahead... she's a hard working girl and she's earning her keep. She may not be the belle of the ball, but she'll get the job done without any fuss.

    Thanks mate!

Pssst, there is a closed airstrip in northwest Mexico Sonora, Navojoa MMNV/NVJ, some black SUVs and Barons still waiting...

Well... we found the strip at Exuma (without any Magenta) and it's just me and my shadow this evening...

... and here she is, all tucked in for the night, at a remote stand, far away from the holiday crowd... cowls tight, probes covered and chocks in place. Tomorrow we continue South!

    Thanks Thomas!

Look what you've done Thomas... after decades, starting in 1985 on an Apple IIc.. I finally landed at Gitmo!

I can't believe I've never visited in all these years. Flying the circuitous approach in was lovely.

    Thanks!

Danny- she looks great! May I ask, did you create a wireframe to work the wrap around the windows/nose area? If so, would you mind sharing the process of how you went about it... it looks scary from here

Nah , it was just a trail and error thing tbh.
It is very difficult to get a straight line on there .

Oh yes, Danny, this Trans Continental repaint is a really great one. I saw it in real life in MIA, while landing in a Condor DC-10 in 1986 as passenger coming from FRA Germany.

I am currently working on Balair HB-IBS. It is wip. Did a lot of work on engines and wings.

Those exhaust marks look impressive. Very realistic.

    Hello everyone!

Yes, I am particularly pleased that the HB-IBS is being painted by Balair. I am totally delighted and very excited about the finished paint. That will be another highlight from this thread.

Here is the short story of HB-IBS for those who are interested:

Balair has taken over the DC-6A / C "G-APNO" from Air Ferrry. Here the arrival of the G-APNO in Basel. https://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/bigpicture/picture_id/2857

She got the registration HB-IBS and immediately used by the Red Cross for relief flights in Biafra. After that, I flew with the Baliar as a passenger aircraft until 1982.

    https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/Balair_Douglas_DC-6_Basle_Airport_-_1976.jpg

At the end of 1982 HB-IBS was taken over by the Canadian CONAIR Aviation. And was used as a C-GIBS in forestfires as a waterbomber until 2008. And is said to be one of the best-preserved machines of its type.

In use here in 2006: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/5761622 And here is the last picture I found of the form the HB-IBS as C-BIBS that was in 2016 https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8443829

I think it's nice Thomas that HB_IBS has found its way to MSFS and can still do a lot of nice flights there. Thanks for the Paint...

I hope I don't bore you here with my information,

Have a great sunday Greetings from christian (Pirosch).

It's NEVER boring to learn more about the real planes! Thanks for sharing that history!

Gross Danke Christian! Edel und Wunderbar!
