    Stock P-51D/K overhaul, northern Europe

Note: very WIP at the moment. No idea about the estimated completion date, perhaps this summer, perhaps not.

But indeed, in the same style as my previous P-51B/C series overhaul, I'm now taking on the P-51D/K models. At this point all I can say is that there will probably be lots of aces' aircraft from several units, I haven't made any decisions yet other than the ones you see now. Fine tuned flight models, slightly touched 3D models and other usual things common to other work by Nigel and me are to be expected. This is completely my project though, albeit with a lot of details nicked from Nigel's work so he'll get co-credited anyway.

And then some 357th FG goodness. Note that I'm not showing everything at this point - there will be more of each FG.

Looking terrific, greycap.raf. One day if I get time to overhaul the Modified Stock install, I'll come tapping on your shoulder because it would be great to have an install entirely stocked with the good stuff, rather than the stock stuff. I see you are making good use of that lovely droptank.

Quite nice. Sometimes hard to tell you're working on stock models

Next on the production line, the red nosed 4th FG. Perhaps the most stereotypical ETO Mustang scheme.

This can be considered my personal revenge on CFS1 for giving us the Ridge Runner III on the cover and then a generic 55th FG skin for the in-game P-51D. Nothing wrong with 55th FG as such, but we need that Ridge Runner.

Of course blue nosers can't be left unnoticed.

Speaking of unnoticed things, I don't know if any of you have taken a closer look at the earlier screenshots with drop tanks. The wing pylons are completely new, and this picture introduces a new 75 gallon drop tank originally made by Jaycee to accompany those excellent 108 gallon tanks of his. The tanks can be retrofitted to any aircraft, the pylons unfortunately won't fit even the B/C Mustang as the model nodes are completely different.

And with the completion of Lou IV, the project is indeed over. I'll get them packaged and sent to the upload queue in the near future.

The entire thing ballooned a bit. I don't know what was the actual original plan, to be honest there never was one, but in the end it comprises of 24 different aircraft from six fighter groups. All FGs have been briefly shown in this thread but those pictures are just a scratch on the surface. I'll let you discover the rest yourself!
