    CFS3 Upgrade V2.1 available

    https://www.mediafire.com/file/nag2s..._V2.1.zip/file

This set of files simply copies over the top of CFS3 Upgrade V2. Mostly xdp files, but also more ai aircraft for improved campaign play, and a suite of new spawn files for campaign play also. Over 250Mb of files so there must be more to it!

Oh, and just for interest sake, there have been over 800 downloads of the V2 Upgrade package. Hopefully this means a lot of CFS3 users are experiencing great improvements over stock.

    Screenies

Thought I'd show people what V2.1 looks like.
The scenery is "old school" but an improvement from stock. The size of the main landclasses has been tweaked to provide a unique environment.

Lots of the aircraft, ship, and vehicle xdps have been corrected from stock.

And some more. The version of Ankors shaders is only 2018, I cannot get later versions to run.

As a matter of interest, how do the improvements here compare with stock ETO, and are there aspects here which would result in an improvement of the latter?

I say "Carthago iam diu deleta, sed enim Bellum Alium adhuc aedificandum est"

    Hi James,

Off the top of my head, I would say that ETO has better standards for things like aircraft and vehicle damage. It has a great set of global layers and associated facilities.

Although I see the Upgrade V2.1 as an easy entry into CFS3 and Ankors shaders, I hope people will move on to ETO 1.5 which is still by far the best overall package for ETO in the CFS3 world.

    V2.1 has Airfighter's lovely vehicles.

V2.1 uses a modified set of the stock spawns, and I can tell you that after years of campaign play, a good set of spawns will still get me every time. Playing campaigns in v2.1 you must keep your wits about you. I have a great spawn set for the Fighter Sweep mission type, where enemy aircraft are taking off from an airbase and you are tasked with shooting them down. If you are not smart about it, further flights take off from the airbase - just like real life. Rhubarbs were dangerous.

My last three campaigns - British, american and German - have finished fairly quickly with me being shot down. I like that after all these years things are still a challenge. Maybe some of the root files are better in V2.1 - the way my pilotattributes file works, the distribution of ranks in a squadron is better.

It sounds to me like that, with the Johnno_UK scenery, V2.1 would be very close to what the original plan for ETO was - an improved sandbox for everyone to build on. Then ETO took a very different direction but I wouldn't call it absolutely better for someone who likes modding things exactly to their liking, in such a situation V2.1 may even be an easier starting point.

I agree with greycap .A better sand box is what is needed. Use that scenery in a custom install and love it. Regards,Scott

Yes greycap has put his finger on it - I use this install extensively for all my development work, not a bat file in sight.

    General scenery

    This shows the stream texture

I think this is the ammodepot facility, much expanded facility
