The reason I ask about the navaids is because the checkerboard approach uses three different beacons at the same time. Primary is the IGS (localizer/GS) that guides you into the hillside. Meanwhile, you set the ADF to 377 and Nav 2 to 115.5, then set the two direction indicators on your PFD to those beacons. The NDB is at the near end of the runway, while the VOR is on an island in the bay lined up of the other end of the runway. The basic procedure is to follow the IGS down toward the hill while watching the two directional indicators. As you come closer to lining up with the runway, both indicators will begin to converge. Just before they do, you disengage the AP and crank a HARD right turn. If you do it right, the two indicators will line up, both pointing straight ahead, just as you level out. If you get that right, you're lined up with the runway. Needless to say, it takes practice!

Edit: Those freq's might have changed...

Edit 2: It looks like everything is there on the map. The Nav 2 VOR is 116.10, but the NDB is still 377. I wish I had time to load up a flight, but that will have to wait.

Gotta crank that last right turn a little harder!

And just ignore those pesky cars - you can just run 'em flat!
